The Raw Material Leader will be an active member of the raw material warehouse operation and provide guidance, instruction and direction to team members. Manage activities and associates engaged in raw material warehouse operation. The primary responsibilities of this position include scheduling, receiving and grading scrap purchases, inventory management, logistics management, and supplier performance management. Key objectives will be accuracy in receiving, inspecting, rating and grading truckloads of purchased scrap, managing inventory levels, mitigating inventory losses or overpayment, and partnering with vendors to improve inbound service levels. You will work cross-functionally with with Purchasing, Shipping, Quality, and Manufacturing and take ownership of quality assurance in processing from receipt of plastic srap to recycled resin pellet production, collecting data and providing feedback on how loads were processed.

Knowledge and Skills Preferred:

  • Associates Degree
  • Strong PC skills; proficiency in Excel and inventory software
  • 3-5 Years experience in warehouse or manufacturing setting
  • Interpersonal communication skills
  • Purchasing, Inventory or Shipping Experience
  • Planning ability
  • Quality systems knowledge
  • Research and problem solving skills
  • Organization and ability to coordinate multiple tasks
  • Excellent attendance and work ethic
  • Forklift certification

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Work safely adhering to established safety procedures
  • Maintain excellent standards for housekeeping
  • Supervise inbound raw material warehouses, outbuildings & open air storage
  • Supervise rail car pumping operation
  • Supervise and facilitate astro scan operation including staging, pre-scan & post-scan
  • Direct the positioning, loading, unloading and movement of storage trailers
  • Supervise material handlers, yard driver and warehouse operation
  • Schedule raw material warehouse team for coverage and reduction of over time and approve weekly timesheets
  • Direct and assign work loads, ensuring a continuous efficient flow of labor vs. productivity
  • Develop raw material warehouse team through ongoing training and crosstraining
  • Understand measurables and lead the team in reaching or exceeding measurables
  • Plan, initiate, participate and report physical raw material inventory counts & reporting
  • Complete cycle counts / ABC raw counts / monthly counts of raw material
  • Inspect, grade and receive raw materials
  • Provide excellent internal customer service - follow up with inbound raw material reconciliation reporting & documentation
  • Lift Truck Trainer
  • Lift truck maintenance and follow up (through associated maintenance agreement)
  • Initiate, submit and follow up on work orders for necessary maintenance and repairs
  • Participate fully in meetings, training sessions, skill building and professional development classes
  • Attend and participate in safety meetings
  • Assist in other projects and other duties as assigned

Job Location/Working Conditions/Equipment:

Warehouse/office setting with manual and powered material handling equipment. Operating standard office equipment. Lifting 50 pounds; bending and reaching.
