We are currently seeking highly qualified candidates for a Viticulturist to join our team in Prosser, WA.

Viticulturist job responsibilities include:

  • Develop, implement, and monitor custom viticulture programs for approximately 4000 acres of grower/SMWE owned vineyards including:
    • Irrigation Management
    • Vine/Soil Nutrition Management
    • Vineyard Cultural Practices
    • Pest & Disease Management
    • Fruit Quality Management
    • Sustainable Agricultural Practices
  • Conduct vineyard development and retraining programs in grower/SMWE owned vineyards.
  • Collect, analyze and report viticulture data to support farming decisions, winemaking and marketing.
  • Supervise Viticulture Technician and Viticulture Intern. Perform crop estimation from all assigned blocks.
  • Maintain regular communication with Winemaking and Grower Relations staff.
  • Represent company in technical groups, seminars, conferences, etc.
  • Work is performed primarily outside in the vineyards in all weather conditions.
  • Will drive a pickup to vineyard locations and use an ATV in the vineyards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

  • Bachelors degree and at least 3 years’ experience in viticulture or similar fruit production field.
  • Must possess a strong working knowledge of plant physiology, sustainable agriculture, soil science, nutrition, and irrigation management.
  • Possess a basic understanding of sensory analysis and winemaking.
  • Must possess good, time management and organizational skills. Attention to detail is a must.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work independently as well as with other team members.
  • Proficient in computer related technologies to include tablets.
  • Able to lift approximately 50 lb.
  • Valid driver’s license. Prior experience with an ATV helpful.
  • Must be able to operate an ATV on rough terrain for extended periods of time.
  • History of responsible use of alcohol and other appropriate conduct, as well as fitness to be licensed, permitted, and/or certified by state and/or local regulatory bodies.
  • Ability to work outdoors during all weather conditions to include extended hours and weekends during certain times of the season.

Your Compensation:

$74,300 -$104,656 based upon relevant experience.
