POSITION SUMMARY

As the Vice President -COO for JHCP , this position is an officer of the corporation with fiduciary responsibilities to ensure compliance with both internal and external policies, procedures, laws, and regulations. This position has been delegated corporate signature authority. This position is accountable for the daily operations of the corporation; as well as the development and implementation of strategic plans with the President of JHCP. This position is responsible for the oversight of operations, including oversight of primary and specialty practices, hospital-based programs, JHM shared suites, JHCP health information management, JHCP access call center, practice implementations, and real estate interfaces. In partnership with the VPMA, this position will ensure that the clinical and operational infrastructure is in compliance with quality, safety, risk management, and regulatory regulations. Additionally, this position oversees the implementation of JHM ambulatory strategies. This includes practice acquisitions and affiliation models. This position serves as the primary liaison to the academic and community divisions within JHM for strategic and operational interfaces. This position will represent JHCP operations at the JHM level including the Office of Johns Hopkins Physicians.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP

This position reports directly to the President of Johns Hopkins Community Physicians with a matrix reporting relationship to the Office of Johns Hopkins Physicians COO and JHM Vice President.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Master's degree in business, healthcare administration, finance, or related field is required. In addition, 10 years experience in a leadership position in ambulatory operations and/or physician engagement/employment, preferable in an integrated health system.

DUTIES :
Responsible for compliance with JHHS and JHCP policies and procedures and regulatory requirements at the corporate level and throughout the organization.
Work with JHHS Real Estate to identify potential new locations, develop specifications for build-out, and oversee construction.
Prior to executing any agreements reviews all legal and economic terms and verifies all appropriate reviews.
With the President, identify corporate goals and strategies. Work with the executive team to provide the leadership, resources, and direction to achieve their success.
Work with other affiliates and JHU to develop and implement JHM initiatives, including but not limited to: physician network expansion and recruitment, JHM inter-affiliate collaboration to maximize value, exploring new models of care, developing alternative funding sources, etc.
Identify opportunities to improve clinical and operational performance and provide the direction to achieve the identified result.
Leverage JHCP's size and expertise to influence the market, policy, and ambulatory care.
Ensure that operations adhere to strategic plans and programs, both short- and long-range to support business goals and the objectives of the organization
Provide strategic input and leadership on decision-making issues affecting the organization, e.g. participate in the evaluation of potential alliances, acquisitions and/or mergers and investments.
Partner with members of the Executive Team to develop and ensure internal and external communications are coordinated to correctly convey the decisions and intent of Senior Management and are disseminated in a proper and constructive manner.
Resolve, with appropriate support from direct reports, conflicts in operational issues and personnel matters, facilitating change in the infrastructure as appropriate to ensure objective fulfillment and swift response to these problems and opportunities.
Mentor and develop direct reports and key individuals within operations to enhance their goals and provide future JHCP/JHM leaders.
Lead efforts, along with other organizational leaders, to ensure a diverse workforce representative of the community and employee populations
Help lead efforts on inclusivity and equity within the organization
Provide oversight and direction to clinical/practice operations, regardless of specialty or location.
Ensure adherence to JHHS and JHCP policies and procedures and regulatory requirements both at the corporate level and throughout the organization as it relates to operations.
Provide direction regarding the development of priorities and coordination of activities with other organizations.
Oversee the non-provider clinical staff, clinical support departments, and practice locations to ensure that resources are available & deployed appropriately and strategies and goals are implemented and achieved.
Ensure revenue maximization through the oversight of registration, access, and scheduling practices.
