Summary

Responsible for maintaining adequate linen and supplies in patient care areas; cleaning patient care areas daily and at discharge; cleaning of beds; cleaning equipment used in patient care; preparing and transporting instruments and equipment requiring sterilization to CSR; running errands as needed; and other responsibilities as required or directed specific to the unit. Models appropriate behavior as exemplified in MLH Mission, Vision and Values.

• Must be competent to perform all job functions by the end of orientation.
• Must be able to verbally communicate in an effective and positive manner with child/family, public and all other health care workers.

Key Job Responsibilities

• Performs daily cleaning of equipment, beds, and patient care areas.
• Provides and maintains supplies and equipment in all patient care areas.
• Recognizes and reacts appropriately to environmental safety factors related to patient care.
• Safely and efficiently transports patients, specimens, and blood products.
• Completes mandatory requirements in a timely manner without prompting.

Physical Requirements

• The physical activities of this position may include climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion.
• Must have good balance and coordination.
• The physical requirements of this position are: heavy work - exerting up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 50 lbs. of force frequently.
• The Associate is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity, such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; or extensive reading.

• The Associate may be required to have visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned (i.e., custodial, food services, general laborer, etc.) or to make general observations of facilities or structures (i.e., security guard, inspection, etc.).
