Job Responsibilities/Duties
Washington River Protection Solutions (WRPS) is the tank farm operating contractor at the Hanford Site located in Richland, WA. The WRPS mission is to safely store, retrieve, and treat 56 million gallons of legacy radioactive and hazardous waste. This complex mission spans all competencies of engineering/science accomplished through a highly integrated organization engineering organization. Engineering at WRPS consists of process engineering, design engineering, nuclear safety, plant/system engineering, construction project engineering, procurement engineering, process and control system engineering, engineering standards/program implementation, and the Chief Technology Office. These areas support all areas of the tank farm mission including Retrievals, Production Operations, Field Projects, Waste Feed Delivery Projects, and long term innovations.

Unreviewed Safety Question (USQ) Evaluator responsibilities are:

Perform Qualified USQ Evaluator responsibilities, including performance of technically accurate USQ evaluations and second signature reviews on schedule.
Ensure USQs are performed accurately and on schedule to support projects and operations.
Provide mentoring, oversight, and feedback to other USQ evaluators to ensure USQ evaluations are performed accurately and on schedule.
Lead or participate as team member on required assessments of the USQ process.
Obtain and maintain qualification as a USQ evaluator.

Understand the Documented Safety Analysis (DSA) and Technical Safety Requirement (TSR) contents necessary to perform USQ evaluations.

Understand how hazard evaluations are used in developing USQ evaluations.

Develop and maintain assigned procedures for USQ process.

Identify USQ process weaknesses and lead the development of program improvements.

Perform hazard evaluation and DSA review in support of proposed changes evaluated in the USQ process.

Understand what proposed changes require USQ review.

Understand the Potential Inadequacy in the Safety Analysis process requirements.

Required Qualifications
Grade 21:
Bachelors of Science (BS) in Engineering/Science
Twelve (12) years experience in engineering or nuclear safety
One (1) year nuclear facility experience
Minimum of three (3) months USQ process-related experience

Grade 22:
Bachelors of Science (BS) in Engineering/Science
Fifteen (15) years experience in engineering or nuclear safety
One (1) year nuclear facility experience
Minimum of three (3) months USQ process-related experience

Desired Qualifications
In-depth knowledge of the USQ process (10 CRF 830. 203, DOE G 424.1-1B), Tank Farms or 242-A Evaporator DSA and TSR, and experience preparing USQ evaluations at a DOE site.

Compensation & Benefits
Grade 21:
Hiring Range Minimum: $135,188
Hiring Range Maximum: $170,463

Grade 22:
Hiring Range Minimum: $151,700
Hiring Range Maximum: $199,600

In accordance with the company's philosophy on compensation for exempt and salaried non-exempt employees, WRPS takes into consideration a variety of factors when determining initial salary to include assigned job scope and responsibility, a candidate's qualifications as compared to internal comparators performing in a similar role, and the external labor market. A salary offer will be made within the targeted hiring range posted. Note a candidate's prior salary history will not be taken into consideration.
