Greetings from sunny Savannah! We are a rapidly growing, high-end, botanical boutique looking for an energetic, reliable assistant manager, to help run our beautiful, well-loved botanical boutique (our modern take on a florist/gift shop) located at Plant Riverside in downtown historic Savannah. As an assistant manager, you will work daily with the customers, supervise and help train employees, develop a knowledge and love of our products that is contagious, while keeping our shop clean and well-curated.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ability to fully/properly and timely complete the shop's daily Opening/Closing List
  • Assist processing inventory; demonstrate extensive knowledge of the lines we carry
  • Welcome and greet customers upon entering/exiting store. Must be familiar with our brand and history and clearly convey that to customers/staff.
  • Perform daily sales, comfortable with Shopify POS
  • Establish and maintain consultative relationship with new, prospective and existing clients
  • Perform administrative tasks to support the smooth operation of all store operations, including the timely submission of all personnel scheduling, paperwork, preparing and submitting reports, and monitoring sales receipts and cash
  • Organized worker with a calm demeanor that inspires the team (the ideal candidate will possess grace under pressure) handle customers gracefully
  • Must demonstrate respect and "servant leadership" with staff and supervisors
  • Be actively knowledgable and engaging of PRD management
  • Work as a team to set and achieve sales goals
  • Daily and deep cleaning, maintaining/ organizing retail space and back room in addition to exterior premises
  • Maintain flower bar and learn how to process flowers daily as well as light arranging of wrapped bouquets and potentially minis.
  • Participate in weekly manager meetings with owner + other managers
  • Assist training, supervising + schedule UP PRD (Urban Poppy Plant Riverside) staff
  • Assist employee performance, feedback, reviews, encourage professional development
  • Available 40 hours/week. must ensure coverage of shop;
  • Available to start immediately: DECEMBER 2022. Available Saturdays (we are closed Sundays), and most holidays with a very flexible schedule (peak periods may require additional hours and late nights for displays; Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, Christmas season, etc.)
  • Each employee will have a one-month training/probational period with a provisional review to ensure a good fit.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 2+ years high-end retail management; some great corporate examples might be: Anthropologie, Aesop, L'Occitaine, Fresh, Winston Flowers, Neiman Marcus (etc.)
  • Ability to adapt to Urban Poppy design aesthetic, previous work with flowers and plants a plus
  • Task oriented as well as the ability to handle interruptions. Must be able to manage his/her time well and have the ability to properly prioritize tasks
  • Ability to work as part of a team and do all tasks and lead by example
  • Strong and clear communication skills (with customers, owner and co-workers)
  • Able to perform basic math skills for completion of sales, calculate inventory and manage registers
  • Love for retail; passionate about flowers, plants, apothecary and people
  • Professional, groomed appearance at all times
  • Excellent phone, online and person to person sales experience
  • Must have a cheerful, smiling, positive demeanor and edify colleagues
  • Comfortable standing for long periods of time, lifting and managing shelving displays
  • MUST be able to work holidays and Saturdays. We are closed Sundays.
