JOB DESCRIPTION:

A Unit Secretary assists the department with clerical duties, among other responsibilities, including scheduling, answering phones, follow-up, discharge resident appointments, coordinating resident transportation, and filing. Additional duties may be assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

• High School Diploma or GED required
• Prior medical records experience in the health field, skilled nursing preferred.
• Minimum of two years experience in a similar role preferred.

• Medical receptionist experience preferred
• Experience in health care and knowledge of medical terminology preferred
• Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills; able to follow written and verbal instructions
• Qualities of responsibility, diplomacy, and ability to work well with fellow staff members
• Cheerful and pleasant demeanor
• Respect for residents’ privacy and rights, display of genuine concern and empathy for the elderly
• Self-motivated with flawless time and attendance
