Under supervision of the Analytics Team Manager, the Data Analyst position primarily maintains a range of technical client deliverables for the Sales Executive/Consultant and the Account Management teams. The Data Analyst also works on ad hoc reporting and requests, assisting with more technical tasks, and acting as a client facing plan expert. Other common responsibilities include communication with carrier and vendor partners to negotiate quotes for coverage, and secure competitive pricing. Experience in the insurance industry, and specifically Employee Benefits, is highly desired.

Responsibilities:
  • Generate new and first time client initial deliverables
  • Roll over existing client templates to new plan years / structures
  • Provide monthly / quarterly client utilization, experience and financial reporting for the largest and most complex clients
  • Make adjustments to report inputs and visuals as needed
  • Generate custom contribution models
  • Analyze funding arrangements, including fully insured, self-insured, and level-funding
  • Prepare and create ASO spreads for self-funded plans
  • Create fully insured equivalents for self-funded plans
  • Generate benchmarking and trend analysis
  • Project client renewals and advise on overall client position
  • Negotiate with incumbent and bidding carriers to ensure most competitive rates and products for clients and prospective clients
  • Provide client deliverable feedback in client facing team calls and monthly / quarterly / annual emails communications
  • Track and store workflow in ImageRight
  • Remain current on industry trends and information, new product development, legislation, coverages, and online technology systems (e.g. carrier websites)
  • Participate in meetings, industry seminars and training programs
  • Provide training and act as a resource for the Employee Benefits department
Qualifications:
  • 3-5 years in the Employee Benefits industry
  • Four year degree; preferably focused on mathematical field
  • Minimum 1 year in an excel intensive technical role
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel in creating and working with pivot tables, complex charts / formulas, large datasets, and data visualization
  • Knowledge of ImageRight / Benefit Point / Springbuk / Deerwalk / Domo a plus
  • Analytical, able to analyze claims data, compare quotes and have accuracy and decisiveness
  • Strong organizational, verbal and written communications skills
