Position: Two Harbors General maintenance Worker

Reports To: Maintenance Supervisor

Department: Two Harbors Maintenance


Function:
The maintenance worker’s job is to perform routine and an extensive range of work in the repair and general maintenance of facilities, buildings and equipment under general to limited supervision. They execute work within established procedures and processes under both verbal and written instruction. The portfolio of properties under responsibility are as follows:

  • Banning House Lodge & Villas
  • Harbor Reef Restaurant & West End Galley
  • General Store
  • Public Showers & Restroom Facilities
  • Public Laundromat
  • Employee Dorm Housing, Outside/Inside Kitchen & BBQ Area
  • Employee Laundromat – Dorm Area
  • TH Residential Units
  • All other business properties


The responsibilities include, but not limited to the following:

  • Performing repair or general maintenance work of facilities, buildings, grounds, and equipment at various sites including electrical, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, glazier, and painting tasks.
  • Assist janitorial, when needed, of cleaning public restrooms/showers, dorm housing cleaning of bathrooms and kitchen facilities and laundry mat
  • Perform trash pickup from employee housing, public restrooms, laundromat, unit behind BHL, trash cans in front of the General Store, plaza, deck of the conference room/banquets office, and the time clock deck. Trash is to be taken to a dumpster.
  • Perform regular pump out of port-a-potties (TH Campground, LH Campground, TH waterfront (West Side) and other business properties
  • Perform annual weed abatement
  • Repairing and treating structure such as showers, floors, sinks, walls, carpets and roofs.
  • Performing minor repairs, troubleshooting and adjustment of locks on doors and windows.
  • Repairing door hinges, cleaning plugged key slots, changing filters on ventilation, heating and air conditioning units and replacing light bulbs and ballasts.
  • Servicing kitchen and laundry appliances and smoke alarm equipment, reporting mechanical malfunctions to party for action.
  • Setting up, breaking down or moving of furniture.
  • Perform routine and scheduled preventative maintenance tasks such as roof drain debris removal, grease trap, storm channels, dumpster area cleaning and repairs and road maintenance.
  • Perform routine and scheduled property inspections to identify potential liability or non-reported maintenance issues such as leaking water, low hanging tree limbs, trip hazards, abandoned property or inadequate lighting.
  • Responding to emergency calls and situations such as running water, smell of gas, sewage back up, and or no power.
  • Special projects

Qualification Requirements:

Licenses: Class C


Language Skills:
Ability to read and comprehend documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports.


Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.


Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and talk or hear. The employee is required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.


Work Environment: The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
