Boys & Girls Club of Hernando County (BGCHC) provides fun, engaging, and educational before-and-after school programming within Hernando County’s public schools. We also provide early childhood education at seven daycare/preschool locations. Our mission is to enable children, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens.

As a co-teacher in the twos and threes daycare/preschool classroom, you need a positive attitude and a whole lot of energy of keep up with 18 (the ratio depends on ages) students! After feeding the children breakfast, you transition to an engaging circle time and teach colors, shapes, letters and numbers. After circle time, children disperse in to small groups where they rotate between centers and creating artwork with the teacher. At the same time, you tie shoes, clean noses and manage behaviors. Twice a day, you take your class outside to release some energy on the playground. You help the children clean up and wash their hands before feeding them lunch and snack.

Patience is key for this position as you will be potty training the two-year-olds. The sooner they're trained, the sooner you can stop changing their diapers! In the afternoon, you revisit circle time to keep their little brains working. Children develop social and emotional, physical, behavioral skills and more by playing in centers with their friends. You keep the classroom clean and germ-free at all times, write and implement fun and exciting lesson plans and give the two and/or three-year-olds as much love and attention as they can possibly handle!

Schedule

• Monday through Friday
• 8:15am-5:00pm, however, all schedules are subject to adjustment.

Pay

• $13.25-14.00/hr, based on credentials

• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• One year of experience is highly preferred, but we can train!
• DCF 45 Hour Child Care credential is highly preferred; ability to complete within 90 days of employment if not already credentialed
• Reliable transportation and the ability to travel to our preschools throughout Spring Hill and Brooksville if needed
• Ability to pass a Level II background check and pre-employment drug testing
