All subjects needed: Math, Science, English, German, French -- from MS to HS (all levels)

In-person, 1-on-1 academic support for students 6th-12th grade in the Sammamish area. 15-30 hours/week (your choice). If you love bringing joy to a student not used to loving academics, being an Academy instructor is the job for you! As a private school tutor and teacher, you may also be helping individual students earn high school credit (training provided and additional pay)!

• Multiple subjects: Families are contacting us daily, hoping for support in math, from middle school to calculus, science, humanities, French, German, and more. Academy tutors will have more opportunities to expand their schedules if they have the ability and interest in tutoring multiple subjects. The Academy offers all subjects and world languages, so let us know what else besides Math or Science you feel you could tutor or teach!

Working Conditions:

• Hours: Hours depend on student demand, which is currently highest in late afternoons and evenings. Single-subject tutors tend to have fewer hours. A Math + Physics tutor who can also help with English (or SAT prep) will reach 20-30+ hours within a few weeks, with more students added as the year progresses
• Schedule: Our families are typically asking for after school hours, Monday through Thursday, and we also have a few requests for earlier in the day and weekends. We are currently looking for instructors who have availability in the afternoons/evenings, from 3:30 to late evening. However, the Academy also works with "day students" due to Running Start or homeschool family schedules.
• Locations: Issaquah/Sammamish student homes (with an adult in the house), local libraries, the Academy school office in Sammamish, or via Zoom (as requested by our students' families).
• Necessary travel: We drive between lessons (paid time) and you will need a reliable car for in-person lessons (optional). You will need reliable internet and a computer set up that allows for Zoom lessons if meeting online.
• Job Duration: (Paid) training begins immediately upon hire and position commitment is until the end of the school year (mid-June), but we hope you'll stay much longer!

Essential Abilities and Behaviors :

• Be fully vaccinated against Covid-19/boosted and be willing to wear a mask (at a family's request) when working indoors.
• Be proficient and able to explain your subject fluently from absolute beginner to advanced. You will need experience, even informally, explaining concepts, devising activities, and helping students document their progress. You will take our placement tests to determine how comfortable you are with each level.
• Communicate on a consistent basis via Pacific Learning Academy email and commit to reporting lesson details via our online system within 24 hours.
• Persuade reluctant learners to find joy in the subject again!
• Education: 4-year degree (or equivalent) as a minimum in any subject.
• Skill: Able to work with middle and high school students and provide unique and differentiated support and instruction based on their learning needs.
• Misc: Reliable transportation for in-home tutoring on the Eastside (Issaquah and Sammamish) and reliable internet/equipment if you'd also like to work with students via Zoom.
