Travel Coordinator

This is a non-personal services contract to provide Administrative, Analyst and Advisor Services that shall support the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs. The United States Government shall not exercise any supervision or control over contractor personnel, who are the service providers performing the services described herein. The contracted service providers shall be accountable solely to the Contractor who, in turn, is responsible to the Government.

Job Responsibilities:

The incumbent oversees travel operations for both EUR and IO Bureaus. Responsibilities include providing a range of domestic and foreign travel services; ensuring compliance with appropriate regulations and procedures and reviewing new ones to determine impact on the travel program; recommending improvements in the program; and providing general travel support and assistance to employees.

· Oversees the administration and coordination of the EUR-IO Bureaus’ domestic and foreign travel program;

· Serves as the Bureau travel administrator and subject matter expert (SME) for all travel related matters and issues;

· Serves as the bureau liaison to the Travel Management Center (TMC) and Transportation Office;

· Participates in Department-wide working groups and pilot projects;

· Develops strategies for effective management of the travel program;

· Reviews new and/or proposed regulatory and policy issuance, assesses impact on the travel program and recommends to management appropriate courses of action to ensure compliance;

· Develops Bureau specific guidance to State Department travel policies and regulations;

· Conducts complex analysis and studies to assess program operations and existing policies, procedures and regulations;

· Gathers and evaluates information related to travel costs and develops reports;

· Coordinates special travel and transportation projects;

· Reviews, oversees the preparation of travel authorizations and requests and serves as an official approver of all travel authorizations;

· Provides assistance to employees with questions on travel policy and procedures; provides formal quarterly training to Bureau travel arranger and staff;

· Ensures that forms for travel reimbursement are correctly completed and accurate and coordinates payments with personnel in Charleston.

Job Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience

· High school diploma and must have a minimum of five (3) years office experience and supporting high level officials.

OR

· 4 years of directly related administrative and technical experience.

· Active Top-Secret Clearance Required.

· Knowledge of Federal Travel Regulations (FTR), Foreign Affairs Manual (FAM) and Foreign Affairs Handbook (FAH)

Knowledge, skills, and abilities:

· Experience with EZ and E2 Travel Systems

· Experience running a supply chain office/room

· Knowledge of office management systems and procedures

· Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work in a fast-paced office environment

· Excellent customer service skills

· Attention to detail and problem-solving skills

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $80,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year

  • EZ and E2 travel systems: 5 years (Preferred)
  • Federal Travel Regulations (FTR): 5 years (Preferred)

  • Foreign Affairs Handbook (FAH): 5 years (Preferred)

Security clearance:
