POSITION SUMMARY

The Training Coordinator is responsible for assessing, developing, and executing an effective training program to meet regulatory compliance within the Transportation Division for DOT (FMCSA), EPA and OSHA requirements and corporate EHS policies and procedures. The Training Coordinator, under direct supervision by the DOT Compliance Specialist, is responsible for developing, maintaining, and implementing a training matrix. This includes developing training materials, evaluating training programs, scheduling training, delivering programs, and recordkeeping. Effective training is to be provided for new hires, as well as periodic and refresher level training through classroom training, individual training, field training exercises and other media for employees at all levels to maintain employee qualifications and develop highly skilled employees. Areas of training will include, but are not necessarily limited to: General Awareness, Function Specific, Hazard Communications, HazMat Security, First Aid/CPR, Spill Response, Liquid Fuel Handlers, and assist and support the investigation of accidents, injuries and spills to identify trends and incorporate corrective actions into training. Assist transportation managers, supervisors and CRCT safety specialists with training, compliance and safety related functions as needed.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Bachelor's Degree, or relevant transportation, training, and/or program administration experience, or combination of education and experience preferred
  • 3-5 years' experience in records management and administration of training programs
  • Knowledge and understanding of Federal regulations relating to the transportation of Hazardous Materials

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • With degree, 5 years of relevant experience required; without degree, minimum of 10 years relevant work experience required
  • Demonstrated knowledge of e-learning platforms
  • Broad level of knowledge concerning the transportation industry compliance regulations, standards and best practices
  • Proficient use of computer software, including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook required
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the components needed for an effective training program
  • Experience with a broad range of educational media, tools and techniques
  • Fluent in English, both oral and written required
  • The ability to communicate effectively with a diverse group and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to acquire, interpret, analyze data, and present results in various reporting formats
  • Self-motivated; Demonstrated ability to solve problems using critical thinking skills, communicate cause and effects, follow and give instructions on a daily basis
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions as needed
  • Ability to adjust schedule to meet business demands; travel as needed
  • Possess team building and leadership qualities

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Bring an innovative and effective method to coordinate, schedule, and facilitate training solutions
  • Develop and provide OSHA, DOT, and EPA required training to all departmental employees
  • Maintain current and accurate training records for all departmental employees
  • Evaluate training to ensure it provides ongoing value
  • Provide training solutions via classroom training, individual training, web-based training and tailgate style safety meetings, email messages, monthly safety mailers
  • Actively participate in industry support organizations utilizing community opportunities, solutions, evaluations, to identify industry best practices
  • Identify outside trainers, including contract providers and community agencies to provide additional support to the training program
  • Assist in accident/incident investigation to identify trends, implementing corrective actions through training solutions for vehicle accidents, employee injuries and spills
  • Maintain CRCT procedures to ensure they continue to align with our mission and goal
  • Manage the Learning Management System (Frontline) for CRCT; to include incident close-out response identified through collaboration with the safety department.
  • Use Articulate and Vyond to enhance current and develop new training for CRCT employees
  • Conduct new hire orientation, as needed, for all CRCT personnel
  • Assists employees with training resolutions, Helpdesk style
  • Support and mentor new employees
  • Assist with planning and conducting of periodic response exercises

  • Provide an effective and timely orientation program for new hires that gives the employee a thorough understanding of subjects and how to: work safely, comply with company policies, comply with company procedures, meet company expectations, comply with Federal and State regulations, and function specific knowledge for assigned position
  • Provide up-to date periodic and refresher training as needed or required to maintain a safe, efficient, and compliant transportation operation
  • Maintain and document training activities to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements for subject, timeliness, and frequency
  • Maintain orderly and accurate employee training records and certifications
  • Provide constructive and motivational feedback to employees on training activity performance to accomplish increased employee knowledge and performance
  • Maintain a high level of knowledge concerning industry compliance regulations, standards, and best practices
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
