The Manager of Transportation is responsible for managing the Transportation department function at a single facility. The Manager provides day-to-day efficient and economical operation of all fleet equipment and resources (tractors, trailers and drivers) within the facility of oversight. The position encompasses all transportation activities such as dispatching, routing, and tracking of company assists. ​The position also ensures regulatory and Department of Transportation (DOT) compliance as it relates to the facility oversight fleet.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

· Manage transportation resources (drivers & equipment) through dispatch process to ensure full and efficient use of company assets

· Manage and lead investigations to verify and resolve customer or shipper complaints.

· Ensure timely and economical repair and preventive maintenance of fleet vehicles and that the appropriate records are maintained in compliance with company policy and DOT regulations

· Monitor and effectively utilize staff to improve productivity, flexibility and efficiencies of labor

· Manage department budget

· Supervise Operations and Safety Manager and Driver Supervisors; hires, coaches, training and develop team members and provide performance feedback to ensure maximum productivity and growth and compliance with company policies.

· Research and identify analytical information regarding performance analysis in order to increase performance.

· Perform audits and observations on drivers and vehicles for compliance with Federal DOT regulations.

· Complying with transportation – related policies, safety rules, union contractual agreements.

· Visit stores or accident sites to follow up on reports and complaints.

· Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):

· Knowledge of Fleet operations, routing and dispatching applications, and on-board GPS systems

· Knowledge of Word and Excel

· Solid knowledge of transportation and logistics.

· Excellent communication and analytical skills

Education: Four-year college degree, or equivalent knowledge gained through formal education, specialized training, or additional job experience.

Experience: Three years of directly related transportation or logistics experience.

Other: Some travel required.

Physical: Basic office environment: ability to sit, stand, walk, kneel, stoop, use stairs, reach, pull and lift objects

Pay: From $81,386.00 per year
