Casey County Hospital’s Health Information Management department has a position available for a transcriptionist to translate audio recordings into written documents.
In this position, the transcriptionist will receive recordings from the hospital staff, listen to the audio, and create a coherent, written document. In many cases, there will be a need to expand on sentence fragments or audio notes to create something readable.
The ideal applicant has either significant experience or a certificate in transcription, as well as excellent hearing and strong typing skills.
The position is on-site and does not work remotely; Monday through Friday; hours may vary with up to 32 hours per week.
Transcriptionist Duties and Responsibilities:

• Listen to and write out audio recordings
• Edit transcriptions before filing them
• Keep transcriptions organized for later use
• Ensure accuracy of the transcribed text
• Understand details of client requirements regarding formatting and notation
• Complete transcriptions in a timely manner, reviewing grammar, punctuation and spelling prior to submission
• Remain familiar with the latest transcription software and recommend upgrades or enhancements if necessary
• Correct any errors or inaccuracies in a timely manner
• Ensure typing skills are honed and remain sharp by completing typing drills on a regular basis

Transcriptionist Requirements and Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED certificate
• Transcription certificate or equivalent experience
• Excellent hearing
• Attention to detail
• Strong typing skills
• Proficiency with common transcription software
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
• Ability to work with a variety of people and personalities
• Familiarity with Microsoft Windows operating system
