Job description

Walker Methodist Health Center seeks Trained Medication Aides (TMA) to assist residents with medication administration and activities of daily living, encouraging independence, and freedom of choice.

Perks of working for Walker Methodist Health Center- you earn OT after working 8 hours in a day or 80 regular hours in a 2 week pay period.

All Shifts Available

WOSO - You work 3 out of 4 weekends and you get paid 28.08 hours for your weekend off.

Qualifications:

Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Current CNA and TMA licensure.

Preferred Experience: Previous experience in assisted living or long-term health care. Previous experience caring for residents with dementia.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist residents with direct personal care activities including, bathing, shampoo/hair care, shaving, oral hygiene, foot, and nail care.
  • Assist residents with physical activity including range of motion (ROM) exercises, transferring and ambulation using designated assistive devices.
  • Assist residents with elimination activities including assistance to the bathroom, commode, bedpan, or urinal.
  • Perform specialized procedures and treatments including but not limited to medication reminders, medication assistance, accurate vital signs, simple wound care, dressings, catheter care, medication administration including insulin injections, and assistance with eating.
  • Assist residents with designated nutrition and hydration programs, including meal planning, preparation, specialized diets, oral fluid therapy, fluid restriction, intake and output records, and food safety.
  • Report and record all incidents and safety hazards to direct supervisor immediately. Identify, report, and act to prevent potential or actual abuse or neglect of all residents according to the Vulnerable Adult Act.
  • Develop a positive, realistic, and professional relationship with the resident and family.
  • Deliver care with respect to resident rights. Encourage each resident’s decision-making process, free expression of opinions and concerns.
  • Create a calm, accepting, non-judgmental environment to support the resident to achieve their best level of independence.
  • Use appropriate therapeutic communication techniques and approaches, including reality orientation, validation therapy, and cognitive therapies as trained.
  • Provide safe and reliable escort to events and appointments.
  • Read, understand, and comply with care directions on the service plans.
  • Document cares accurately, including objective observation, completion of assigned cares, and reporting of progress toward goals.
  • Give verbal reports of resident activities and cares when appropriate.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor or designee.
