Camp Kingswood, celebrating our 110th summer, is a co-ed overnight waterfront camp in Bridgton, Maine. We're looking for a few last awesome people to join our summer team.

We are looking to hire a First Session Camper Care Specialist (June 18-July 18). As a member of the Camper Care Team, you play a critical role in ensuring the emotional well-being of campers and staff by providing support and guidance in challenging situations. Your expertise as a mental health professional will be essential in creating a safe and nurturing environment for all individuals at camp.

Responsibilities (a more detailed job description will be part of the interview process):

  • Assist staff and counselors with camper issues, providing training, strategies, guidance, and support in resolving conflicts and addressing camper needs.
  • Provide staff with support for camper, camp, and personal-related concerns, offering a compassionate ear and professional guidance to staff members in navigating challenging situations.
  • Work with campers individually or in groups, as needed, providing counseling or therapy services to address emotional or behavioral concerns, and promoting healthy coping skills.
  • Work with staff individually or in groups, as needed, providing support and guidance to staff members who may be experiencing personal or professional challenges.
  • Serve as a consultant for parent issues and concerns, providing guidance and support to parents who may have questions or concerns about their child's experience at camp.
  • Act as a liaison between medical staff and program staff to identify patterns or concerns with camper or staff behaviors, collaborating with other camp staff to ensure the well-being and safety of all individuals at camp.

Qualifications:

Ideal candidates for this role are social workers and psychologists who work clinically year-round with kids, teens, or college students.

  • Master's Degree in a mental health field of study.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in a clinical setting.
  • Demonstrated crisis management and conflict resolution skills.
  • Experience in an overnight camp setting, preferably as a staff member, or as a camper.
  • Experience and love for working with kids.
  • A proven track record of success in administrative software and a management role supervising others.
  • A positive attitude, a collaborative spirit, and a sense of humor.
  • Experience working in diverse clinical disciplines is a strong plus.

Compensation:

$3,000-4,000 [based on experience], plus room and board] and/or child care/camp for children
