Employment Terms: This job is a full-time benefited FLSA Non-Exempt position in the Student Affairs Division that reports to the Coordinator of Assessment Services. This position will report to the Lawrenceville Campus.


Salary: not to exceed $45,000/yr.


Schedule: 40 hours per week within the following Assessment Center operational hours: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 8:00am-5:00pm, Friday 8:00am-4:00pm. Flexibility is a must.

Minimum Qualifications (Job Code 11316 Category 1): Associate’s degree *and* Three (3) years of work-related experience Note: Experience may substitute for the degree on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience in Student Services, testing lab administration, assessment, effective proctoring, and/ or evaluation. Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills; experience working with diverse student populations; exceptional customer service and analytical skills. Computer and organizational skills to manage student record system. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite products.

Successful candidates should possess: (1) knowledge of testing administration and effective proctoring; (2) excellent customer service skills to work with part-time proctors and testers; (3) familiarity with computer-based testing; (4) computer skills and experience to administer Accuplacer and national certification tests; (5) ability to assume responsibility without direct supervision, (6) ability to manage multiple tasks and successfully meet deadlines; (7) ability to adapt to changing assignments and multiple priorities; (8) ability to accurately document and maintain student records and flexibility in schedule as the position may require some Saturdays and evenings.


Job Description Summary:
Under general supervision of Assessment Coordinator, the Testing Specialist is responsible for (1) supporting the daily operation of lab testing functions in the Assessment Center, including front desk responsibilities; (2) providing Accuplacer and Specialty Lab testing services to customers; (3) coordinating the scheduling of lab services; (4) overseeing the installation, maintenance, and upgrades of software and computer systems; (5) ensuring safe, secure, and supportive environment while remaining in compliance with the nationally recognized NCTA (National College Testing Association) Professional Standards and Guidelines.


Duties/Responsibilities

  • Testing Lab Administration
  • Coordinate the timely administration of testing in the Computerized Testing Center.
  • Report and record keeping for testing services.
  • Assist with Accuplacer and Specialty Lab testing services, including front desk responsibilities, following established Assessment Center guidelines.

2. Testing Lab Operation

  • Maintain appropriate licenses necessary to operate testing labs.
  • Maintain necessary certifications for compliance with certifying agencies authorizing the Assessment Center as a testing site.
  • Oversee the installation, maintenance, and upgrades of software and computer systems.
  • Remain current on all policies and procedures for the labs, testing agencies, and test providers.
  • Ensure compliance with institutional, state, and federal regulations regarding confidentiality of test candidate information and records.
  • Perform routine and confidential duties in a businesslike, courteous, and timely manner.

3. Data Reporting and Maintenance of Operational Materials

  • Assist in the development and maintenance of training manuals, reference guides, and resource materials.
  • Assist in the creation of routine reports and presentations communicating the activities, revenues and progress of Assessment Services.

4. Advisement Duties

  • Provide academic advisement to students who complete the Accuplacer and other exams.
  • Reviewing results of exam with students/candidates and making recommendations regarding next steps (enrollment, registration, retest, etc.).
