The 7,000-acre Research Triangle Park is the largest research park in the United States, and is home to over 140 organizations (Biotechnology, Pharmaceuticals, Healthcare, and Information Technology /Telecommunications) and has around 45,000 full time employees entering the Park each day. The Research Triangle itself is named for the Triangle formed by the three universities: Duke University at Durham, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and North Carolina State University in Raleigh. This position performs specimen receipt and storage, review of MSS, Enzyme and Amnio pending lists, all problem specimen resolution, all e-mail responses and works with support teams outside of the department.

Requirements:

• Minimum of an Associates degree in life sciences required.
• 1-year experience or equivalent preferred.
• Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.
• Strong computer skills and working knowledge of programs such as Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
• Previous customer service experience preferred, but not required.

The schedule for this position will be: 1st shift, Tuesday-Saturday, 9:00am-5:30pm.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

• Follows laboratory procedure for pending list investigation and worksheet storage.
• Follows laboratory procedure for specimen receipt and storage.
• Identifies specimens requiring repeat or add on testing.
• Corresponds with other laboratory support groups to resolve client inquiries and concerns.
• Maintains adequate stock of working supplies, notifies management of shortages.
• Participates in required continuing education activities.
• Adheres to lab policies and protocols.
• Shows a high level of respect for all lab personnel, supervisors and directors.
• Shows willingness to perform duties until they are complete.
• Attends all required meetings and represents laboratory in a professional manner.
