Brief Description:

The Technical Services Representative role will be responsible for partnering with the Sales & Marketing organization to build relationships with customers. The primary goal of the position is to increase Universal’s value by creating improved communication and knowledge sharing between Universal and customers, while supplying the customer with engineering and operational support. This position works under the direction of the Technical Services Director.

Detailed Description:

  • Develop strategic, internal, long-lasting relationships with customers to generate additional business, profitability, and revenue for Universal and other product lines within Patterson-UTI
  • Schedule regular follow up meetings with customers and primary account manager
  • Prepare written reports, presentations, and other materials for communicating value-add proposals to customers
  • Submit detailed updates on customer needs for engineering, technology, and equipment
  • Partner with Operations, Sales & Marketing and Billing departments to manage invoice processes with timely payments
  • Communicate and coordinate with Operations and Sales & Marketing to understand customer activity levels, performance level, competitive advantages, growth strategy, and customer satisfaction
  • Work directly with Operations to identify and improve upon daily operations to continually drive towards superior customer satisfaction
  • Develop positive relationships with other Universal employees in Operations, Sales & Marketing, Operations Support, Technology, and other departments
  • Be the subject matter expert in Universal’s PTEN+ metrics tracking system to promote operational excellence and identify trends
  • Assess the potential application of Company products, technology, and services to offer solutions that meet customers’ needs and to add value to the relationship
  • Communicate customer feedback into future product developments
  • Represent the Company in the marketplace through various industry organizations (SPE, AADE, YPE, IADC, etc.), participation in trade shows, product seminars, sales meetings, and other industry events
  • Keep well-informed on current industry trends, opportunities, products, and competitive issues
  • Position Universal as a market leader within the Industry
  • Ensure that each ticket is signed, invoiced, and paid timely according to the bid and scope of work
  • Represent the Company and our values with integrity while maintaining the highest ethical and legal standards with all interactions
  • Adhere to the Company’s Code of Business Conduct and Ethics
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Job Requirements:

  • Strong written and oral communication skills with demonstrated ability to conduct effective presentations and written report preparation
  • Skilled in Microsoft (MS) Office and working knowledge of MS Excel and Word
  • Ability to perform simple mathematical calculations (addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication) using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals, to make job related calculations
  • Ability to organize, multi-task, prioritize and work under time-sensitive deadlines while maintaining a calm and professional demeanor when adversity and multiple initiatives/priorities are encountered
  • Possess interpersonal and relationship skills to work effectively in a cross functional, matrixed organization and with all levels of employees, customers, and third parties
  • Ability to travel as needed to other offices and work sites, occasionally requiring extended travel to remote locations and/or overnight stay(s) outside normal office area
  • Ability to work weekends and/or additional hours that are needed to complete specific job tasks

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business Management, or a related field of study
  • Completion of CrossFlo Program (Universal Engineering program) or 3+ years’ experience in fracing
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • Must have and maintain valid state-issued driver’s license, be eligible to drive a Company vehicle and meet the requirements of the Company’s vehicle program, policy and/or guidelines

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree/MBA in Engineering, Business Management, or related field of study
  • Knowledge of Universal products, technology, services, and applications

Additional Details:

The Technical Services Representative must work with an emphasis on individual safety and safety for others, including coworkers and third parties. This position will split time between an office environment and working in a warehouse or field setting, which may require working outdoors for long periods of time in all types of weather conditions typical of the area where the job is located, including dust, humidity, sleet, snow, rain, mud, cold, heat, wind, and other inclement weather. Working conditions for this position may involve exposure to varying outdoor conditions, including environmental chemicals, gases, noise, dampness, fumes, radiation, and heights.
