Technical Business Analyst

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Bethlehem Shared Services, LLC is looking for a technical business analyst responsible for overseeing the implementation of technical business projects and solutions. Responsibilities include performing detailed requirements analysis, converting them to tickets and specifications for developers, and working with the QA team to perform user acceptance testing. The technical business analyst will also oversee the ongoing web production releases, effectively releasing new features and functions, and developing sound processes to ensure that business and technical requirements are effectively met.

This position requires a tech-savvy professional with an in-depth understanding of eCommerce systems and the development lifecycle, strong interpersonal and communication skills, strong organization skills and the ability to act as liaison between the internal stakeholders and the technical team in charge of developing the application. THIS IS A US-BASED ROLE.

Our Headquarters is in the heart of Lehigh Valley in historic Bethlehem, PA. While our roots are in direct marketing, we have a strong eCommerce and growing brick and mortar retail presence. We have three (3) Retail locations in Pennsylvania, four (4) in Texas, three (3) in Florida and soon to be more.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work with business and cross functional teams including development teams (web and ERP), Merchandising, Marketing/Digital Marketing, Business Intelligence, Analytics, Customer Service, Retail and Logistics for requirements gathering.
  • Work closely with project manager, architects, developers, QA, and stakeholders to ensure technical requirements are understood and implemented correctly
  • Document, communicate, and review requirements with project team members and sponsors.
  • Responsible for creating, reviewing, and communicating documentation that describes the requirements, design, and functionality of the solution being developed to project team members and sponsors.
  • Ensure that everyone involved in the development process has a clear understanding of what is being built and how it works.
  • Break down high level requirement into developer specifications, create user stories and acceptance criteria.
  • Collaborate with the Project Manager to ensure the product backlog contains well-defined and high-level requirements translated into user stories with acceptance criteria.
  • Assist Project Manager with understanding the technical implications of software application features and provide guidance on user story ticket prioritization.
  • Be involved in testing and QA activities such as creating test plans, test cases, and ensuring defects are reported and resolved.
  • Monitor/manage TopDesk tickets.
  • Identify tickets I/T Development team should be working on
  • Create appropriate corresponding JIRA ticket for the I/T Development team
  • If there are critical production support tickets, notify your Manager and the I/T Project/Development team, organize triage sessions and send out ITEN
  • Update TD tickets
  • Create and update JIRA tickets with accurate and detailed information, including issue description, ticket status, and resolution details.
  • Work with QA team and coordinate with relevant functional teams to complete user acceptance testing (UAT), and ensure defects are captured and assigned severity.
  • Manage and communicate releases.
  • Create and maintain a release management plan which outlines the scope, timelines, and resources requirement for the release.
  • Coordinate with the development and QA teams to ensure that all features, fixes, enhancements are included in the release.
  • Coordinate with project manager and stakeholders to communicate release plans, timelines, and dependencies.
  • Develop and manage release documentations including release notes.
  • Coordinate with the IT team to deploy the release to the production environment.
  • Conduct post-release reviews to identify areas for improvement and incorporate feedback into future releases.
  • Manage on-call process.

COMMUNICATION:

  • Lead business requirements and discovery sessions.
  • Participate in sprint planning session to help the development team understand the requirements of the user stories and to help break down large stories into smaller, and/or more manageable tasks and provides guidance to the project manager with prioritization.
  • Hold meetings with the development team for requirements clarification and/or troubleshooting.
  • Resolve and/or escalate blockers and issues in a timely fashion.
  • Understand and convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, navigating potentially difficult conversations, and handling sensitive information with tact and discretion.

CANDIDATE PROFILE:

  • Candidates should have a strong mix of technical and functional experience with eCommerce systems, including content management systems, back-end, and front-end development.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • Must be able to efficiently manage multiple initiatives simultaneously and excel in a high growth environment.
  • Must be a solutions-oriented problem solver, highly analytical and strategic thinker.
  • Experience delivering using (hybrid) Agile methodology.
  • Knowledge of traditional project management principles (burndown techniques, retrospective formats, handling bugs, user stories, continuous Integration, continuous testing).
  • Demonstrable experience successfully leading varied and diverse teams.

REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

  • Excellent communication, mentoring and team building skills.
  • Extensive experience and high proficiency in MS Excel and PowerPoint, Google Docs, Issue Tracking, and document sharing software (Atlassian JIRA and Confluence)
  • eCommerce, ERP & WMS system experience
  • Demonstrated understanding of online business landscape
  • Demonstrated abilities to work under tight deadlines.
  • Experience in Retail industry and eCommerce platforms
  • Capable of operating independently and without direction yet has the awareness to identify situations where additional guidance or support is needed.
