JOB TITLE: Teacher-Middle School Theater
DEPARTMENT: Calvary Christian Academy
REPORTS TO: Secondary Principal and Fine Arts Manager
STATUS: Exempt; Teaching Professionals Calendar
HOURS: Full Time (40)
LOCATION: Calvary Christian Academy, Fort Lauderdale
Purpose Statement:
This position is responsible for teaching middle school and elementary students at Calvary Christian Academy. The teacher will instruct students as required by the curriculum objectives established by Calvary Christian Academy. The specific focus of this role is to provide quality instruction with a biblical perspective to encourage a love for theatre.
Scope:
This position guides students in classroom learning that will motivate them to reach their academic and spiritual potential and help accomplish our school mission.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Model Christ in word and deed.
- Direct the annual Middle School Musical
- Oversight of the Jr Thespian Troupe
- Take guidance and counsel from your Department Head and Administration.
- Exhibit knowledge, understanding, and mastery of theatre concepts
- Maintain inventory of school instruments and sheet music library using shared Google spreadsheets.
- Write lesson plans and post them to Curriculum Trac for all classes on a weekly basis.
- Teach the entire assigned curriculum utilizing national standards and biblical integration.
- Establish and maintain communication with parents as specified by administrative policy.
- Read Calvary Christian Academy's email/staff communications and respond if requested within 24 hours.
- Be available for student questions, concerns, and ministry before or after school.
- Attend Calvary Christian Academy and Calvary Chapel Fort Lauderdale staff (Huddle) meetings.
- Attend/participate in Back to School Night and other school events scheduled by the administration.
- Participate in the accreditation process for the school's continuous improvement plan.
- Participate in professional development to stay current in your field.
- Participate in scheduled department meetings and grade-level team meetings.
- Fulfill any assigned supervisory duties.
- Decorate the classroom seasonally and scripturally on a quarterly timeframe.
- Prepare interim reports and report cards quarterly, post grades weekly, and maintain accurate records on each student.
- Discipline with love, and enforce established conduct policy.
- Provide remediation or enrichment for students as necessary.
- Participate in the predominate grade level Small Groups ministry.
- Attend the Chapel that is scheduled for the predominant grade level.
- Adhere to specified professional dress.
- Compile and maintain an up-to-date subfolder.
- Secure and straighten up the classroom at the end of each day.
- Must be able to lift 40 lbs.

- A strong commitment to the philosophies and mission of Calvary Chapel as well as the educational philosophies of Calvary Christian Academy.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with regard to children, their parents, and colleagues.
- Spiritual gifts of teaching, discernment, leadership, service, and exhortation.
- Bachelor's degree required (Master’s recommended).
- Florida State Certification, Florida Professional Certification, ACSI certification, or CSI certification. Continuing professional development.
- Computer and technology skills to facilitate effective communication to both students and parents, delivery of content, engagement, and evaluation of students.
