    Purpose Statement
    The IB Coordinator provides oversight and coordination of all district International Baccalaureate programs. The role of the IB Coordinator is to plan and oversee the implementation and management of the program and teacher training. Through coordination with teachers and district and campus administrators, the coordinator is responsible for the K-12 programs, including documentation, reporting, analysis, and evaluation.

    Essential Functions

    • Assume responsibility for the implementation and development of the IB curriculum within the spirit of the school’s mission statement.
    • Ensure that all IBO databases about the school are up to date and deadlines and procedures from IBO are met.
    • Serve as a member of campus Leadership Teams helping to develop the strategic plan, leading the accreditation and review processes.
    • Initiate professional training programs that will enable the teaching staff to successfully develop and implement the IB programs in their classroom successfully; the training will include interdisciplinary unit development and current pedagogy and assessment practices.
    • Provide instructional leadership to individual teachers through mentoring, peer support, goal setting, and team-teaching opportunities.
    • Coordinate with PYP, MYP, and DP campuses within the district to ensure a successful IB program continuum.
    • Facilitate budgetary requests for training and curricular materials.
    • Collaboratively review and revise policies that are aligned with the values of GPS and the IB; such policies will include language, assessment, inclusion, and academic honesty.
    • Oversee student welfare by assisting students in the selection of courses within the campus IB programs, address academic honesty concerns, and implement student support systems.
    • Ensure requirements are met by developing interdisciplinary units, syllabus outlines, scope and sequence (pacing) documentation, community project frameworks, assessment documentation, and the integration of ATLs.
    • Ensure PYP requirements are met by developing transdisciplinary units, POI revisions, scope and sequence (pacing) documentation, assessment documentation, exhibition guidelines, and the integration of ATLs.
    • Attend parent, grade level and program meetings, host informational sessions, and visit partnering schools and businesses.
    • Support advisory classes in conjunction with the social worker, mental health counselor and campus administrators to ensure suitable, sustainable development opportunities for students.
    • Assist in scheduling processes.
    • Assist in recruiting and retaining students by attending recruitment fairs and conducting open presentations and tours.
    • Communicate with all shareholders (students, parents, teachers, administrators, district personnel) regarding IB procedures, requirements and policies, events and opportunities, and current progress of the programs via meetings, reports, submission of articles to school newsletters, and additional publications.
    • Lead the IB accreditation and review processes.
    • Provide leadership and guidance during the planning and development for site visits.
    • Facilitate presentations, productions, events and/or activities as appropriate that showcase student learning and achievement.
    • Perform additional duties as assigned.
    Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
    • Ability to effectively direct, plan, implement and evaluate programs.
    • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to lead people and provide direction.
    • Experience with procedural guidelines related to the International Baccalaureate Program.
    • Knowledge and experience with the Arizona Academic Standards and curriculum trends.
    • Experience with school district organization, operations, policies, and procedures; the ability to read, interpret, apply, and explain rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
    • Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, staff, and the public.
    • Ability to prepare comprehensive narrative and statistical reports.
    • Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize work.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.
