Role and Responsibilities

To create a safe, welcoming, and supportive classroom environment for families and young children. Teachers will implement Teaching Strategies, Creative Curriculum for the infant toddler program for children ages 6wks – 3 yrs. Old.

  • Plan, create, and implement a dynamic daily program for infants and toddlers.
  • Plan and detail environments and lessons that reflect developmentally appropriate skills and activities.
  • Create a warm and engaging classroom environment for children and adults.
  • Provide strong language and social emotional opportunities through Conscious Discipline methods to help children develop communication skills.
  • Complete individual child developmental screenings and learning plans making appropriate referrals when necessary.
  • Involve parents in meaningful ways which demonstrates the center’s belief that parents are their child’s first teacher.
  • Offer family support through conducting meaningful conferences onsite for families of children in your classroom.
  • Accurately complete assigned classroom records in a timely manner. This includes but is not limited to attendance (child and staff), meal counts, medication documentation, diaper logs, safety checklists, volunteer sheets.
  • Ensure that all required child observations and TS Gold Documentation are completed in a timely manner.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Food Handlers and First Aid CPR (employer will facilitate training if needed)
  • Successfully pass background check and fingerprinting through the Early Learning Division
  • Current knowledge in Early Childhood Education and Child Development
  • Experience working with infants and toddlers (prefer minimum of one year experience)
  • CDA or Step 7.5 Oregon Registry Online
  • Proficiency with computer skills sufficient to manage databases, reports, and TS Gold documentation.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and relate sensitively to adults and children.
  • Ability to lead and work together with your team and take initiative.
