Job description

The Teacher Assistant works as a partner with the school team in developing and delivering art education for BakerRipley Community Schools students to provide an enriched learning environment. Lessons and student management support the school in carrying out goals, policies, and activities designed to implement educational objectives and performance standards.

CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in developing learning materials and providing activities outlined in lesson plans and provide instructional support services for Pre-K 3 classroom under the supervision of a highly qualified teacher (Title I, Section 1119 (g) (2)).
  • Provide instructional services to students under the guidance of the classroom teacher.
  • Participate in the screening, observation, and documentation of progress of students through assessment tools identified by the campus or district.
  • Execute classroom management, such as by organizing instructional materials and activities and discipline.
  • Provide one-on-one tutoring or support if scheduled at a time when a student would not otherwise receive instruction from a teacher.
  • Conduct parental involvement activities.
  • Provide instructional support in a other areas of the school as needed.
  • Make home visits with the teacher as required or requested.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM EDUCATION:

An Associate’s (or higher) degree, or have completed at least two years of study at an institution of higher education (defined as completion of 48 semester hours or equivalent trimester hours). Experience in art or related field with school-aged children preferred.
