In anticipation of NASA awarding the Human Landing System (HLS) Sustaining Lunar Development (SLD) contract in the near future, Dynetics, a wholly owned subsidiary of Leidos, is seeking a Spacecraft Analysis System Engineer to boost HLS and other programs as part of a diverse team that develops lunar landers, other cislunar spacecraft, and a wide range of critical technologies for civil, military, and commercial space programs.

The Spacecraft Analysis Systems Engineer in this role will aid in the development and integration of aerospace structures and systems related to the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and commercial space customers. Primary tasks will include conduct of system trade studies and result finding including system environments, propellant loading, vehicle configuration, crew systems, and subsystems. The SE applies result finding processes to define the study, objectives and measures, generate and assess alternatives, identify uncertainty and impacts, conduct or obtain probabilistic study, and impart results.

The Spacecraft Analysis Systems Engineer promotes the Spacecraft Lead Systems Engineer. The Spacecraft Analysis SE conducts system trade studies and applies result finding for studies on system environments, propellant loading, vehicle configuration, crew systems, and subsystems. Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) models of the necessities, system goals and functions, risks, and verifications are utilized and updated as a result of the trade study. System state study models are developed and utilized to promote assessments of vehicle configurations and hardware/software integration trade studies. The Systems Engineer coordinates and integrates across multiple engineering teams.

Basic Qualifications

  • Candidates will possess a bachelor’s degree in system engineering, software engineering, computer science, computer engineering, aerospace engineering, or electrical engineering or equivalent degree from an ABET-accredited institution.
  • Candidates will have relevant experience from projects worked on while in a BS program.
  • Candidates will have prior work speaking within a team environment and have prior work mentoring & guiding team members.

Candidates will be a resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville - North Alabama, AL area.

Other Qualifications

Preferred candidates may have past work and/or working knowledge of the following:

  • NASA, DoD, or commercial space industry in necessities development, test plans and procedures documentation, safety exploration, or test assistance
  • Space flight hardware and necessities tracking
  • Large-scale, human-rated space flight development
  • Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) system model development and application
  • MATLAB State flow
