Objective: Daily Biosecurity, Safety, and Animal Welfare Audits
Essential Functions
- Help protect farms against disease known as Biosecurity.
- Responsible for safety audits of the barn personnel and animal welfare audits of the farm
- Review all structural areas of the farm to ensure they are adequately bio-secure.
- Make sure the exterior and interior areas of the farm is bio-secure, including attic audits, chute management and general area outside of the farm
- Complete audits of the open and closed fans. Record all backdrafts and any other issues found.
- Review all exterior doors and critical access points on each facility to check for back drafting.
- Responsible for training barn staff on biosecurity, safety and welfare
- Responsible for truck wash and trailer audits
Marginal Functions
- Assist PIPESTONE applied research team with various research projects
- Swabbing of manure equipment to ensure no disease transfer
- Drive to and from sites daily to perform audits, driving record must comply with company standards
POSITION SPECIFICATIONS
Education: High school diploma or equivalent experience
Experience: Previous agricultural related experience is a plus, but not required.
Work Environment:
- Overnight travel required
- Agricultural swine environment in rural area
- Noise levels that require hearing protection in some areas
- Frequently bend, reach, squat and kneel.
- Occasional bend while pulling and/or lifting objects weighing up to 50 pounds or requiring up to 50 pounds of force to move.
