What you’ll be doing:

Reporting to the Chief Medical Officer of Hospital Medicine and Critical Care, with the assistance of an appointed dyad partner (Group Operating Officer), the GMO will maintain oversight and overall accountability for his/her assigned portfolio of hospital medicine and critical care practices and ensure that the quality and efficiency of care provided with and through our Hospital Medicine and Critical Care clinicians is consistent with our clinical quality and clinical operational goals and objectives. An SCP Health hospital medicine and critical care clinical leader is accountable and responsible for the enhancement and maintenance of SCP’s brand and position as a national leader in the provision of hospital medicine and critical care practice management services and the protection and enhancement of the Company’s reputation as a highly valued clinical and operational service delivery partner.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILIITES:

Establish and maintain highly effective, valued, and trusted client service relationships with those hospital leaders (e.g., the C-Suite) who hold the responsibility to monitor and measure the performance of SCP Health at their facility.

  • Ensure that the goals and objectives for the performance of the practice are set in collaboration and alignment with hospital leadership, as per the SCP CarePlan process.
  • Attract, develop, and maintain highly effective, influential, and trusted medical directors, and other clinician leaders (physicians and NPPAs) as necessary, to lead the practice.
  • Work collaboratively with the SCP Chief Medical Officer, HM & CC, to create and/or enhance practice management service strategies and tactics to advance and improve the clinical performance and operational efficiency of our clinical teams.
  • Assume accountability to lead and influence all stakeholders in the pursuit to retain ALL clients.
  • Ensure the delivery of consistent, timely, and effective process improvement initiatives.
  • Responsible to actively and continually collaborate with and influence the efforts and priorities of Staffing Ops leaders and those functions in recruiting, scheduling, and credentialing.
  • Where SCP Hospitalist programs operate at the HM and CC sites, ensure continual alignment through constant and dedicated medical leadership collaboration, shared goals and objectives, and joint metrics which measure and demonstrate highly functional, productive, and effective EM/HM/CC clinician relationships.
  • Exhibit/deliver timely, thorough, consistent, clear, and effective communication to all internal Company stakeholders and employees, as well as clinicians, medical directors, and client representatives.
  • Diligent oversight, direction, and leadership on the startup processes for new clients and new programs with existing clients.
  • Diligent oversight, direction, and leadership regarding clinician on-boarding processes.
  • Accountable to ensure a high level of job satisfaction by and retention of our Medical Directors, physicians, NPs, and PAs.

CLINICAL QUALITY & CLINICIAN ENGAGEMENT

  • Monitor and influence results in all designated key clinical quality performance indicators.
  • Active and effective participation in clinical operations performance enhancement endeavors (LWOTs, D2D, LOS, etc.).
  • Monitor and influence results in accordance with targets set.
  • Accountable to ensure that Facility Variance Report (FVR) results (representing an aggregate score on components of a & b above) are within assigned performance ranges.
  • Execute effectively on recruiting, leadership, and management tactics necessary to attract and retain highly effective Medical Directors. Continually monitor the effectiveness of the Medical Director Tier program and make necessary adjustments to ensure the goals of the initiative are achieved.
  • Create and maintain alignment of field leaders with NPPA leadership to promote the expansion and effective use of NPPAs in our practices.
  • Where needed, educate stakeholders, and promote adoption.
  • Diligent oversight, direction, and leadership regarding clinician training, on-boarding, and orientation processes.
  • Influence operational practices necessary to improve clinician satisfaction and clinician retention.
  • Advise the ongoing establishment, content, and objectives associated with regional and national medical leader conferences, training programs, and related educational initiatives.
  • Ensure the safe and effective optimization of practice coverage models, in concert with patient demands.

BUSINESS

  • Lead and advocate for the implementation of risk-based productivity driven clinician compensation models in response to volume, acuity, and reimbursement conditions.
  • Make recommendations on modifications to plan design and maintain continual communication with clinicians on results.
  • Active and effective contribution to new business development strategies and initiatives. Accountable to influence Gross Margin target achievement.
  • Accountable to oversee the appropriate and effective utilization of available field operations team resources (i.e., CSVPs, RMOs, RVPs, etc.).
  • Ensure field operational leaders and medical directors adopt and appropriately utilize the Company technology resources and systems.
  • Ensure performance by clinical leaders is in accordance with all legal and regulatory compliance standards and practices.
  • Demonstrate and promote a high level of effective collaboration with corporate departments and field operations personnel.
  • Active participation in business development/growth endeavors, including active and meaningful market opportunity assessments and lead identification, proforma development, and sales presentations.

What we are looking for:

Educational and/or Professional Qualifications

  • MD or DO
  • Requires current unrestricted medical licensure in applicable state(s) and board eligibility or board certification.

Previous Experience

  • Minimum 5 Years of applicable healthcare services management experience at a senior management or executive level of responsibility
  • Must have HM and CC experience
