The Role at a Glance
The Sr. Vice President, Claims for Group Protection (GP) provides executive and strategic leadership to Group Protection Claims. You will direct strategies which have substantial impact on the success of claims handling and enhance the customer experience. In addition, you will lead and ensure the fair, ethical and timely management for all aspects of claims for Group Protection. #LI-REMOTE
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develops a strategic vision for the Group Protection Claims functional area.
  • Establishes Group Protection Claims organizational goals, objectives, and operating procedures.
  • Ensures the Group Protection Claims functional areas are meeting all objectives pertaining to quality, compliance, regulations, productivity, customer service, budget, and project management.
  • Ensures Group Protection Claims operational plans are aligned with Lincoln Financial Group’s (LFG) overall business plans and specific strategic and tactical initiatives.
  • Leads the Group Protection Claims organizational focus on customer service at every touch point while simultaneously delivering operational effectiveness.
  • Ensures the effective implementation, integration, and execution of Group Protection Claims strategic plan initiatives.
  • Leads all Group Protection claim processing centers and related operations in a high-volume environment.
  • Identifies strategic opportunities and oversees the implementation of industry leading best practices and strategies to enhance the customer experience and improve claim management effectiveness.
  • Ensures cost effective operations supported by continuous operational improvements.
  • Establishes metrics and utilizes existing performance monitoring systems to provide quantifiable gauges of the delivery of claims and impact of strategic initiatives to senior management.
  • Develops and directs the administration of expense budget which includes approving expenditures, reviewing reports, initiating process improvements, and reducing cost.
  • Ensures the development, implementation, documentation, and monitoring of compliance related matters; meeting or exceeding all regulatory agency guidelines and standards as well customer requirements.
  • Ensures the appropriate controls (financial, operational effectiveness, efficiency, quality, and regulatory controls) are maintained within Group Protection Claims.
  • Ensures the development and maintenance of an effective organization, including efficient workflow patterns; established performance standards; effective delineation of duties and responsibilities; suitable staffing levels; appropriate supervision; and systems for timely communication of pertinent information.
  • Serves as a strategic leader to senior management on claims management strategies and risks.
  • Supports growth initiatives by proactively collaborating with strategic partners to successfully position Group Protection Claims organization to meet current and future needs.
  • Builds and maintains key relationships with internal (i.e., peers, other departments, executive management) and external (i.e., general agents and advisors) business partners.
  • Builds organizational capability within the Group Protection Claims organization.
  • Ensures that top talent is hired and retained and that appropriate succession plans are in place.
  • Provides training opportunities for the Group Protection Claims organization employees and gives honest and open feedback to aid in the development of talent.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree plus 15+ years of progressively more responsible experience in the insurance industry or related industry, including 5+ years senior management, strategy, and influencing senior management/critical stakeholders experience
  • Or 19+ years of equivalent progressively more responsible experience in the insurance industry or related industry, including 5+ years of senior management, strategy, and influencing senior management/critical stakeholders experience.
  • Group Claims experience highly preferred
  • Ability to travel: Up to 60% if necessary
