Truckee Surgery Center is looking for an experienced Surgical Technologist to join our team. The Surgical Technologist assists in nursing care and preparation of surgical patients by performance of routine and delegated duties according to standards and policies. The Surgical Technologist scrubs all surgical procedures; cleans instruments and rooms; picks cases; monitors inventory and stocks OR rooms.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in orthopedics. Works well with peers and surgeons and has a team approach.

We are a small surgery center servicing the Truckee/Tahoe area. We offer a flexible schedule to accommodate work-life balance. This is a per diem position.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

• Maintains the integrity of the sterile field and sterile instruments and supplies used at the surgical site.
• Responsible for preparing the surgical unit for operative procedures by assembling sterile and non-sterile supplies and equipment; responsible for proper care of the instrumentation and equipment in surgery.
• Watches and anticipates surgeon needs, prepares and passes instruments and supplies to the surgeon efficiently and effectively; holds retractors, cuts sutures, and performs other tasks as directed by the surgeon during surgery.
• Assists as necessary to turn over the OR suite; cleans, washes and organizes the operating room.
• Cleans up and transports instruments to Decontamination in a safe and timely manner.
• Receives items in a timely manner and reconciles packing slips with items received to the PO's
• Picks supplies for pending surgical cases.
• Routinely inspects supplies for damage, package integrity, and outdated.
• Handles supplies appropriately and ensures supplies are stored in the correct environment i.e refrigerated/frozen products.
• Works as a team member in the cleaning, restocking and maintenance of the surgical rooms; initials appropriate checklists.
• Completes educational requirements to maintain certification, if applicable. Seeks educational opportunities beyond mandatory requirements.
• Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality.
• Complies with System policies and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

• Basic knowledge of sterile processing is required.
• Knowledge of human anatomy
• Surgical procedures
• Implementation tools and techniques to facilitate the physician’s performance of invasive and therapeutic procedures.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

• No call and no weekend shifts
• Compensation is dependent upon qualifications and experience
• Flexible schedule

Minimum of 1 year prior experience as a Surigcal Technologist is required. Orthopedic experience required.

Job Types: Part-time, Per diem

Pay: $32.37 - $45.02 per hour
