The Supply Chain team serves the Amherst Residential division of the company. Within Amherst Residential are many product offerings, the largest of which being Main Street Renewal. With more than 22,000 homes in 30 markets, Main Street Renewal is one of the largest providers of single-family rental homes across the country. Supply Chain at Amherst encompasses Vendor Management and Procurement. The Vendor Management team sources and onboards construction vendors and is responsible for the ongoing management of those relationships. The Procurement team creates and maintains relationships with suppliers, assists vendors with purchasing materials, and negotiates and manages material pricing. Our team is hybrid telecommute – meaning we work from our office in Austin, TX on Wednesdays and Thursdays, and work from home the rest of the week. Our Supply Chain Specialist Co-op will be expected to do the same.
A day in the life of our Supply Chain Specialist:
The focus of this role includes the functions of both Procurement (identification, procurement, and pricing) and Vendor Management (identification, negotiating, and on-boarding).
- Conduct competitive pricing analyses to understand the market and industry conditions
- Provide ad-hoc analysis to aid decision making processes
- Facilitate the definition of project scope and the execution of goals and deliverables
- Create and maintain reports pertaining to procurement, product usage, and pricing
- Make effective use of technology to achieve results
- Execute product orders on an as-needed basis
- Negotiate with vendors to ensure Scope of Work pricing compliance
- Manage vendor relationships to minimize turnover
- Identify and recruit vendors
- Resolve issues within the vendor network to improve relational standing
What you’ll need to have:
- Negotiation, vendor, or construction experience is a plus
- Uses cost-benefit thinking to set priorities
- Technology Management: Makes effective use of technology to achieve results
- Ability to identify problems and develop intuitive solutions
- The ability to perform within timelines and other constraints
- The ability to analyze and draw conclusions from data-sets even when data is limited
- Ability to anticipate and meet the needs of both internal and external customers. Delivers high-quality service; is committed to continuous improvement
- Must be able to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment
- Clear and effective communication
