Summary

The Supervisor of Infrastructure Automation & Storage/Backup will lead a team responsible for the architecture and delivery of infrastructure solutions leveraging on-premise automation toolsets. Additional responsibilities include overseeing the implementation of on-premise infrastructure automation capabilities leveraging IaC (Infrastructure as Code) to build self-service capabilities. This role also to provide technical insight, strategic direction, peripheral vision and ongoing operations management for the Enterprise Storage and Backup team. This position will work with IT and business stakeholders, appropriate technology teams, vendors, and APS leadership to ensure that the services delivered meet the company needs and strategic plans.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors' degree in Information Technology or related field and 5 years' prior relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and directly related experience plus 1 year leadership skills.
  • Requires advanced knowledge of job area typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience


Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

  • Lead the overall strategy and roadmap for the Infrastructure Automation & Enterprise Storage teams.
  • Oversee the Infrastructure Automation team to deliver successful solutions that drive business value.
  • Ensure that automation produced meets policy, regulatory, architectural, and security standards.
  • Manage data backup, recovery, offsite storage, and disaster recovery tests.
  • Work with technical and project teams across the IT organization to implement Enterprise Storage and Back-Up solutions that are optimized with configurations to meet current and anticipated business needs
  • Conduct presentations, work with project teams, and authorize content aimed at educating about our standards, strategies, and best practices, including establishing, documenting, and communicating technology standards
  • Identify and assess risks in implementing business innovations.
  • Produce metrics and status reports to present infrastructure performance and work initiative progress to leadership
  • Work with IT leaders and Project Managers to assist with resource planning, vendor assessment, and other tasks to provide technical expertise
  • Lead innovation efforts and feasibility of the latest technologies and solutions along with the preparation of business case justifications and value proposition demonstrations
  • Document designs, processes, projects, tools, standards, and techniques and ensure documentation is maintained and relevant
  • Create opportunities to bring DevOps processes to more traditional operating models, driving agility and speed to infrastructure operations.
  • Monitor and remain abreast of emerging technologies for possible introduction into the organization
  • Ensure development and training of the teams on operational practices and service management.
  • Manage vendor relationships in all related technologies to deliver services effectively and efficiently.
  • Lead the team using Agile methodology as appropriate.

1. Leads and directs construction efforts statewide to provide efficient reliable power to our customers.
2. Manages exempt professional or non-exempt technical employees (typically entry to intermediate level)
3. Defines short-term goals, priorities, and operational plans to ensure team goals are aligned with the goals and priorities of the organization
4. Adjusts departmental plans and priorities to address resource and operational challenges
5. Makes decisions guided by policies, procedures and business plans, with limited guidance and oversight from manager
6. Creates and promotes a productive work environment, ensuring that necessary skills and competencies are in place to meet the goals of the unit
7. Coaches team members on performance, completes employee performance evaluations and recommends pay actions
8. Provide technical guidance to employees, colleagues, and/or customers

Flex Role:
This position is not required to be performed at a specific APS facility as long as adequate technology and a solid ergonomic set up are present. Pending agreement with leadership, employees hired into this role will be able to choose where they prefer to perform their work. Employees will have two options to choose from:

  • APS office based: The employee prefers to work most of the time from an APS facility.
  • Home based: The employee prefers to work most of the time from his/her home.

  • Employees in Flex roles are required to reside in Arizona (or NM for Four Corners-based employees). Role types are subject to change based on business need.
