Description:ORGANIZATION MISSION:
The mission of Boys & Girls Clubs of the Suncoast is to provide high-quality, out-of-school Club experiences to ensure our young people, especially those who need us most, are on track to graduate from high school with a plan for their future, demonstrate good character & citizenship, and live a healthy lifestyle. In partnership with the Salvation Army, this is a faith-based Boys & Girls Club with staff serving as positive Christian role models for youth.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Boys & Girls Clubs of the Suncoast is looking to hire energetic, caring, and responsible Youth Development Specialists. Under the direction of the Club Director, you will plan, implement, and supervise activities through our 3 priority outcomes: Academic Success, Character & Leadership, and Health & Wellness. You will lead activities like arts and crafts, sports, games, field trips, and serve as role models to our youth. Develop and maintain practical approaches to building solid Christian living among the children, teens, and younger adults. You will be trained for success and potential career growth! Requirements:JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ability to work with youth and engage them in fun activities and projects
  • Must share a vision for The Salvation Army's philosophy for youth ministry
  • Commitment to young people and an understanding of the factors affecting their lives
  • Teach youth self-confidence and self-awareness while building supportive relationships
  • Provide structure and be a positive role model for club members
  • Under the direction of the Club Director, supervise club activities utilizing creative freedom and imagination
  • Must be able to complete required DCF training in allotted time
  • Knowledge of the mission, objectives, policies, programs, and procedures of Boys & Girls Clubs of the Suncoast; and the principles and practices of non-profit organization

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent
  • Will respect and promote the interest of The Salvation Army. The individual is not required to embrace the tenets of faith, but he/she is required to promote and respect the mission of The Salvation Army
  • Creativity with the ability to make tasks seem fun
  • Must be flexible
  • Must be responsible
  • Must be able to be able to engage with school children of all ages
  • Willing to complete organization sponsored CPR training
  • Satisfactory Level 2 background screening and drug screening

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $17.00 per hour
