Situated in a beautiful Brownstone, The Carnegie Hill Institute (New York CHI) offers a uniquely discreet experience for its patients. As one of the pioneers of Opioid Treatment using Medication-Assisted Therapy, CHI has been providing specialized treatment for opioid dependency for over 40 years. In addition to our Opioid Treatment Program, we also provide services for an array of other substance use disorders at our Chemical Dependency Outpatient program.

Position Overview:

The candidate must be organized, punctual, highly motivated, and skilled in patient-centered care. The Substance Abuse Counselor (SAC) will provide treatment services for patients of our Chemical Dependency Outpatient Program or Opioid Treatment Program. On average, the SAC will be required to manage a caseload of 35-55 patients, conduct treatment planning, lead group or individualized counseling sessions, coordinate care, and facilitate the needs of our clients with utmost respect and compassion.

The SAC is to maintain all records with accuracy, in accordance with OASAS regulation and HIPAA Law, in order to ensure quality treatment and complete confidentiality of client information.

All applicants must hold a credential in one of the following:

• Master Social Worker (MSW)

• Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)

• Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC, Experienced CASAC-T may be considered)

Skills:

• Computer proficient (Windows OS and Microsoft Office)
• Experience with electronic health records

• Punctual and organized

• Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
• In depth knowledge of Medication Assisted Therapy
• Ability to utilize motivational interviewing and CBT

• Ability to build solid rapport with clients

• Previous experience in the field of Substance Abuse Treatment

• Candidates fluent in Spanish are an asset, but not required

Responsibilities:

• Conduct initial and ongoing intake screenings and assessments

• Provide family, individual, and group counseling sessions

• Develop and implement individualized treatment planning

• Coordinate with parole/probation/ACS, as required

• Develop discharge planning to maximize the success of the client's abstinence

• Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings

• Maintain accurate client records and meet all deadlines as required by clinical, Joint Commission, OASAS 822 and other applicable regulation

Salary is based on applicant experience and credentials. May choose 2 days to work from home.
