ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY:

The Department of Medical Education (DME) in the Morsani College of Medicine (MCOM) is headed by Dr. Bryan Bognar, Chair & Vice Dean for Educational Affairs. Dr. Bognar is responsible for the oversight of the Undergraduate Medical Education (UME) program and Graduate programs curriculum, all MCOM student services (Student Affairs, Admissions, Student Diversity, the Experiential Learning Center), the School of Physical Therapy, the Athletic Training Education Program, and the Physician Assistant program. The Chair/Vice Dean also works collaboratively with Graduate Medical Education (GME), Continuing Professional Development, and the Deans for the College of Pharmacy, College of Nursing and College of Public Health to advance the education mission across the MCOM and USF Health. DME (including the MCOM student services) currently consists of 10 faculty members and 50 administrators / staff members. The primary clients for DME are the medical students, DPT students, PA students, the doctoral, post-doc / masters students, and the faculty / staff educators for the medical and graduate program curriculum. The department interacts with faculty, staff, administrators, students, and healthcare providers across USF Health, USF and other institutions.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Student Programs Manager for the collegia program fulfills a leadership role within Morsani College of Medicines Office of Student Affairs. This position is responsible for managing all program initiatives, processes, resources and tracking student satisfaction. This position is also responsible for performing work of an administrator, serving in a managerial nature and autonomously working under the general supervision of the Associate Dean for collegia program and the Assistant Dean for Career Advising. The Student Programs Manager works in collaboration with the Director for Student Affairs to fulfill the goals and objectives of the program as related to budget and data analysis.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Manages the administrative match process for all 4th year medical students, by overseeing external database systems (ERAS, NRMP, San Francisco, AUA, and military). Serves as the first point of contact for all MD students inquiring about Career Advising services, resources and career or specialty advisors. Develops & maintains departmental relationships with faculty members across Tampa & Lehigh Valley Health Network campuses to serve as a resource for program information.

Supports the planning and implementation of the Collegia and Career Advising program goals to fulfill the mission of both programs. Coordinates with other OSA staff when hosting large scale events for the Collegia Program including collegia reveal, gallery of specialties, collegia Olympics, specialty speed dating, etc. Oversees and assists in coordinating the monthly collegia related events.

Oversees and tracks the medical student performance evaluation meeting process between 4th year medical students, Collegia faculty advisors and Deans.

Resolves programmatic problems through written and oral communication. Develops annual reports and administers updates. Monitors program account budget and expenditures.
Manages and trains program staff for effectiveness and efficiency.

Evaluates and analyzes individual project and overall program effectiveness; implements appropriate procedures to ensure efficiency and accuracy to fulfill the Collegia program mission. Represents the Collegia and Career Advising programs at various presentations, internal meetings, and student functions. Oversees the development and delivery of workshops, seminars and orientation sessions for students, faculty, and external constituencies.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

MINIMUM:

Bachelor's degree and two years of experience in a student affairs position or a Master's degree in Higher Education, or College Student Affairs. Work experience may not be substituted for the Bachelor's degree requirement for this position.

PREFERRED:

A Master's degree, at least 5 years of related experience; excellent communication and organizational skills.

SPECIAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
Depending upon the nature of the assignment, this position may require substantial work in outdoor environments, and/or regular attendance and participation in meetings during evenings and weekends.
