As the Director of Strategic Partnerships, Media & Ad Tech on our CVS Media Exchange (CMX) business, you’ll chart the course for expansion of the fast-growing retail media arm at the 4th largest company in the US. CMX is dedicated to driving measurable outcomes for customers, advertisers, and the CVS business. Our full-funnel ad solutions harness the power of CVS in-store and online data, using extensive reach and robust customer understanding to provide increased efficacy for our clients. With a vast portfolio of assets brought to life through flexible pricing and buying models, CMX creates solutions that help advertisers build brand awareness and drive action.

CVS Media Exchange is seeking an experienced Director of Strategic Partnerships to own external vendor, ad tech, and data partnerships on behalf of the retail media network. In concert with product, this individual will realize the monetization roadmap across in-store, online and DOOH through the cultivation of innovative partnerships with market players.

The ideal candidate will be a strategic, creative thinker with the demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally to develop scalable solutions for partners and CVS. The candidate will have experience working within a matrix organization as well as leading, coaching and influencing people. Candidates must have strong consultative sales skills with C-suite leaders, a collaborative and innovative spirit, and be extremely comfortable dealing with ambiguity.

In addition, we are looking for high-caliber talent that has a strong background in building and executing complex partnerships across a range of industries at scale. This individual will be the point person for all external business relationships that drive the continued expansion of media monetization onsite, offsite and in-store.



What you'll do...

  • Drive our monetization strategy through strategic partnerships with business developers, tech platforms, advertising platforms and leading media publishers. Own the short and long-term vision across established and net new external business relationships.
  • Proactively identify unique integrations and solutions across product, targeting, measurement and the overall CMX offering that enable aggressive CMX monetization goals and roadmap achievement.
  • Lead all stages of complex deal development including partner identification, creative commercial construct design, and strong negotiation. Find win-win scenarios / solutions throughout.
  • Work cross-functionally with product, marketing, PR, legal, finance and sales/account teams to build business cases for each partnership and outline a path for successful execution post deal.
  • Manage existing relationships with strategic partners, resolving challenge and refining the model / offering to forge a pathway for continued growth.
  • Own establishment and achievement of partnership goals including business tracking and forecasting. C-suite and senior management exposure with partners is common.
  • Remain atop of industry best practice, ensuring CMX stays differentiated and competitive across in-store, DOOH, and online (onsite & offsite) retail media portfolios.
  • Manage a team of seven with plans for future expansion. Create a positive team culture and showcase best-in-class talent development, setting the foundation for team growth as our startup matures.


This role is work at home flexible. It can be based remotely in the U.S. or near one of our Corporate Hubs. If you are commutable to one of the following Corporate Hubs, you must work in the office 2 or more days a week: Wellesley, MA, Woonsocket, RI, Hartford, CT, Buffalo Grove, IL, Northbrook, IL, Scottsdale, AZ, Irving, TX, or New York, NY.

Pay Range
The typical pay range for this role is:
Minimum: 100,000
Maximum: 227,000

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of relevant business experience across, but not necessarily exclusive to, business development, sales, M&A, product and partnerships
  • 6+ years of cross-functional leadership including demonstrated examples of bringing large partnerships / solutions to market in concert with several internal teams
  • 4+ years of strategic partnerships experience, structuring and negotiating complex business deals in the digital marketing / advertising industry
  • 4+ years of digital media experience, including a strong understanding of what advertisers and agencies find lucrative
  • Proven track record of partnering with legal teams to complete agreements and navigate extensive legislation around data usage and digital media best practice. This includes experience with IP rights.
  • Experience co-creating innovative new solutions / offerings in the media/data space in collaboration with product, analytics and legal teams. Comfortable working with product to define product strategy and product requirements.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the media data and ad tech process and major industry players including key integrations required for retail media network success.
  • Ability to travel up to 20% of the time, including regular trips to Woonsocket, RI and New York, NY offices

Preferred Qualifications
  • Excellent communication skills that can effectively articulated in both written and oral forms across a diverse audience base. Experience liaising with c-suite external partners.
  • Self-motivated, high-capacity individual who can function and win in a demanding, performance-driven environment. Ability to adapt easily and thrive in a startup environment.
  • Experience building out and managing high performing teams, including a deep focus on positive culture creation and career development.
  • Significant M&A or consulting experience in the advertising, health & wellness or financial services spaces.
  • Experience with loyalty / rewards data, pharmacy data and/or LAL model targeting
  • Established relationships with main advertising industry partners (e.g. Facebook, LiveRamp, Google, Neptune)

Education
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent (HS Diploma and 4 years
of experience) required

MBA or Master’s Degree in Marketing / Advertising preferred
