Qualifications
Required Education:
High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Experience:
Two years of related experience.
Required Licenses and Certifications:
Ability to obtain within 30 days of employment the following trainings: Training for transporters of hazardous materials/dangerous good materials. Training on DOT Title 49CFR Hazardous Materials General Awareness. Training DOT Security Awareness.
Required Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Excellent oral, written, and electronic communication skills. Ability to effectively use personal computer to communicate, prepare proposals to include cost information on spread sheet as applicable, and provide reports of activities. Ability to effectively communicate with faculty and staff. Knowledge of accounting principles. Knowledge of inventory systems. Knowledge of hazardous materials and dangerous goods. Ability to lift heavy objects. Ability to work in hot and/or cold warehouse conditions without climate control. Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
Job Responsibilities
  • Interacts with customers in a friendly manner to create higher sales volume.
  • Greets and waits on stockroom patrons and merchandise to end users and respond to inquiries regarding pricing, availability, special orders requests and new materials
  • Responsible for sales of stockroom product on hand; answering customer phone calls while meeting the demands of the customer sales windows; issuing sales invoice for all transactions
  • Organize all sales invoices at the end of each day and submit to departmental accounting office
  • Assist with inputting data into the computer to maintain proper inventory and responsible for inventory control of stockroom goods; conducts weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual inventory counts as deemed necessary by Stockroom Manager or Department Head
  • Conforms to federal regulations concerning alcohol inventory; submitting appropriate paperwork for inventory adjustments when needed with adequate justifications
  • Maintains and operates a retail stockroom of chemicals, solutions, and scientific supplies to be used in scientific teaching and research
  • Lifts up to 50 lbs. and receives packages for restocking items
  • Unpacks and examines incoming goods to verify quality, quantity and condition of goods according to assigned purchase order - creates invoices for special order items
  • Receives inventory into Quickbooks software program in the form of data entries
  • Labels products using bar codes and stock shelves with inventory, which requires lifting (up to 50 lbs.)
  • Received packages for all departmental shipping transactions, logging incoming departmental packages and send email for pick ups
  • Organizing all purchase orders and packing slips and submitting to departmental accounting office
  • Responsible for lifting various sizes of dewars and dispensing of all liquid nitrogen for stockroom patrons and adhering to the cryogenic safety measures set forth by the department and the university safety office. Schedule of stockroom refills: 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
  • Complete all necessary safety training related to dispensing of liquid nitrogen and handling of chemicals
  • Keeps stockroom cleaned and organized
  • Able to identify where stockroom inventory is located on the stockroom floor and in storage. Able to identify stockroom inventory in QuickBooks software program and search and locate products easily; easily assist customer's requests regarding scientific products
  • Periodically merchandising the stockroom so that the workflow runs more smoothly
  • Approves IDT orders; checks and responds to email inquiries
  • Process outgoing Federal Express and UPS tracking shipments
  • Request of time offs/early off (No LB) should be both verbally and by written request through email prior to the workday; if sick and need to miss work, has to inform the supervisor ASAP prior to 8:00 a.m. All time offs must be requested in Workday
  • Knowledge in calculating appropriate restocking inventory through a purchase order; verifying cost of goods at order point with vendor; placing order with vendor after purchase order has been approved by manager or by Senior Business Administrator I (accounting office)
  • Work together with co-workers in manner that best serves the stockroom needs and work harmoniously
  • Assist customers with purchasing items from the stockroom, including taking orders, answering phone calls and dispensing liquid nitrogen.
  • Creates invoices for all Integrated DNA Technologies orders.
  • Sorts through all packages addressed to the stockroom; (a) Packages for special orders are received, separated based on lab, and invoices are printed for corresponding products. (b) Packages for stockroom are received, sorted labeled with appropriate barcode, put in appropriate bin location Signs for all incoming packages from delivery services.
  • Calls labs to notify them of package or special order ready for pick-up.
  • Keeps up with packing slips and ensures that they are given to accounting in a timely manner.
  • Keeps track of all items received on various open purchase orders.
  • Other job-related duties as required.
