ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS

Job Knowledge and Role Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrates knowledge of age specific developmental factors specific to adult and geriatric residents with regard to staffing and secretarial duties in the nursing department.
  • Attends all mandatory in-services by employee's anniversary date.
  • Acts appropriately under the direction of the Assistant Director of Nursing and/or Director of Nursing and acts as an active member of the interdisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrates ability to adjust to changes in work schedule to meet facility and department needs.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of and complies with the Code of Conduct and Corporate Compliance Program when performing work functions.

Administrative Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates and manages staffing schedule and job assignments according to nursing department budgetary guidelines and needs. Contacts personnel to fill-in when there is an absence of another staff member.
  • Provides clerical support to the nursing department, which may include answering telephones for the department/unit, maintaining medical records, and preparing special reports.
  • Maintains all files within the Nursing Department.

Roles Responsibilities-Interpersonal Skills:

  • Is aware of, and adheres to, Resident's Bill of Rights and Confidentiality of Resident Information.
  • Interacts with residents, family members, co-workers, clinical and ancillary staff in a non-judgemental, supportive and cal manner.
  • Addresses employee satisfaction issues immediately and assists in resolving the matter in a professional manner.
  • Is aware of Resident Abuse Reporting law.
  • Participates as assigned in the orientation of new staff and demonstrates a positive, helpful and enthusiastic attitude.

Role Responsibilities-Safety:

  • Demonstrates ability to locate emergency equipment (i.e. fire extinguisher, etc.)
  • Understands and can demonstrate knowledge of role in Fire and Disaster drills.
  • Demonstrates ability to identify and respond appropriately to potential behavioral outbursts.
  • Uses facility equipment safely.
  • Recognizes, removes, and/or reports potential hazards.

Resident Care Responsibilities-Resident Dignity:

  • Addresses residents in a respectful manner.
  • Discusses confidential resident information in appropriate areas only.

Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Director of Nursing and/or Director of Nursing.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma required, or sufficient experience and knowledge to perform the job functions.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Possesses experience in typing, filing, copying, and other clerical functions.
  • Possesses strong organizational skills, and attention to detail, and projects a professional image.
  • Must be capable of performing the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Must be able to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing, and possesses sufficient communication skills to perform the tasks at hand.
