SUMMARY

HCMC has a current opening for a Staff Nurse in Inpatient Float Pool

This position is a 0.8 FTE (6 shifts/ pay period), Combo 8 & 12-hour shifts, Nights and Every Third Weekend.

This specific opening is to primarily support the Critical Care/Emergency Department Float Pool Team however this position may be floated to other units based on staffing needs and RN training.

The team will float to Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU), Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU), Burn/Burn ICU, Emergency Department (ED) and including floating to intermediate care units (STNU4 and CMIC)

A sign-on bonus ($8,000.00) is available for eligible external candidates (current employees, contract/temporary workers, and former employees returning to HHS within one year are ineligible).

RESPONSIBILITIES

Within the context of the Hennepin County Medical Center "Centered Around You" Patient & Family Centered Care practice model, and under general supervision, the registered nurse provides and coordinates nursing care by:

  • Protecting, promoting wellness and optimizing health
  • Triaging patients by assessing severity of symptoms and referral to appropriate setting or level of care
  • Alleviating suffering through nursing interventions and prescribed treatments
  • Partnering with the patient, their family and significant others
  • Documenting interventions and an individualized plan of care
  • Educating patient on their disease process
  • Assuring continuity of care
  • Educating patient and family in preventative care which promotes health and well being

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 6 months of current adult ICU or Emergency Department professional nursing (RN) experience
  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing
  • Possession of a valid license as a Registered Nurse issued by the State of Minnesota

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in area of clinical specialty
  • BSN Preferred. Bachelor of Nursing degree is strongly encouraged. Advancement in academic education will be discussed as part of individual professional development during the annual performance review.
