The Sr. Staff Accountant will be responsible for sales and use tax, property tax coordination, payroll, freight, and account reconciliations, closing responsibilities, and audit questions. The position will report into the Assistant Controller. The leader will partner closely with the other members of the finance team in Cleveland, as well as the EXL in India.

Finance and Accounting Leadership:

• Responsible for coordination of sales and use tax audits, including auditors and internal departments
• Assist with internal, external and SOX compliance audits as requested by Accounting management
• Responsible for working with EY to ensure sales and use tax filings are complete, timely and accurate
• Manage sales tax exemption certificates in connection with customer service and collections group
• Manage sales tax audit process including working with the state auditors to ensure they receive timely information
• Alert management of any issues that need to be corrected to prevent future exposure
• Work with EXL to ensure that property tax and real estate tax accruals are appropriate
• Work with Fixed Asset team to ensure that property tax filings are accurate
• Responsible for business license compliance
• Manage the vendor rebate process, maintain documentation, account for rebates in the correct accounting periods
• Manage the accounting and reporting for the off-invoice buying group discounts
• Serve as the Vertex expert, ensuring that the software is updated and calculating sales tax correctly
• Respond and maintain requests from vendors and customers for sales tax exemption certificates
• Responsible for ensuring that all property taxes, license fees (city and state), and any other miscellaneous taxes are pain in a timely manner

The desired candidate will have strong mathematical and analytical skills, be proficient in word processing and spreadsheet software. The candidate will have excellent oral and written communication skills and will have the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
• 7+ years professional experience in accounting and/or finance
• Microsoft Office experience and strong proficiency in Excel
• Vertex, SAP and BI experience preferred
• Strong understanding of federal, state, and local tax regulations

Compensation

The position has a compensation package inclusive of base, bonus (if eligible), benefits, 401k contribution, time off, recognition awards and more. This salary range is 69,000-90,000.
