We are looking for a Staff Accountant to join our growing team!

The Staff Accountant will be involved in the monthly financial close and financial reporting process for assigned residential communities. This position will report to the Assistant Controller and support the accounting activities for multiple community locations. Excellent analytical and communications skills will be required as well as an understanding of GAAP.

Responsibilities, include but are not limited to:

  • Assist with timely and accurate preparation of monthly financial statements and other related reporting requirements. Will assist management with accruals, reclassifications, and various journal entry postings.
  • Perform balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Reconcile intercompany account balances.
  • Prepare monthly reports.
  • Routinely interact with community operations personnel via telephone.
  • Perform special projects and reporting, as necessary.
  • Maintain integrity and professionalism of corporate office.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results, as needed.
  • Communicate with management on any issues hindering effectiveness and efficiency of policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business from an accredited university REQUIRED
  • 1-3 years of general ledger accounting experience, including monthly close responsibilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Access-based financial modeling and analysis.
  • Organized and detail oriented with an ability to work independently.
  • Ability to work with a diverse set of management styles and personalities.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
