Provide technical service and engineering support to our epoxy & urethane chemistries for various industries and applications.. Coordinate and perform material application evaluations, interpretation, customer and field technical support and project management with appropriate lab personnel and other departments to deliver new products and solutions directly to the customer. Assist in the sales process of the supporting brands.

  • Deliver technical expertise in product & market understanding to be a leading resource to internal and external customers
  • Assist sales team to win additional business with division technical solutions that reinforce our value proposition.
  • Manage Technical Service engineering activities or testing activities to meet established project objectives using project management approach, test plans, and milestones to project completion.
  • Develop and deliver technical engineering programs, internal and external training programs, and technical service offerings
  • Individual contributor and team leader for segment projects of medium complexity; many having significant revenue potential. Oversee technical activities and/or supervise technical team members assigned to the project.
  • Provide strategic technical leadership by collaborating with Marketing with identifying new areas of technical and business opportunity for division growth.
  • Partner with Product Development, Manufacturing and Sustaining chemists to determine critical to performance characteristics of new and existing products for development and commercialization.
  • Proactively bring new technology and processes into the division from the technical community, universities, vendors, and competitors.
  • Translate internal and external (customer) Marketing plans into actionable and efficient product differentiation testing plans.
  • Directly support, customers on site, the commercial segments, marketing, and other departments on select products and implement the divisions branded products on related applications.
  • Evaluate and interpret data, performance, and deliverables. Provide recommendations to R&D and project leaders regarding results, deliverables, progress, and challenges. Identifies and eliminates hurdles to successful project completion. Conducts special projects as assigned.
  • Participate in conferences and communicate product strategies and results to appropriate customers/end users.
  • Receive incoming calls from potential or existing customers to make product recommendations or trouble shoot application issues
  • Maintain an electronic database to record Technical Service data.
  • Understand, comply, and promote safe laboratory and work practices, including appropriate safety regulations and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree or higher in Materials, Plastics, Chemical Engineering or similar
  • EXPERIENCE: 7-10 years relevant experience
  • SKILLS: Strong computer, organizational, and destructive and mechanical testing skills. Word, Excel, Act, Access, and JD Edwards
  • TRAVEL: 20 to 40% and hold a valid passport
  • PHYSICAL: Ability to lift to 40 pounds for equipment part handling, customers substrates and to work in tight places on occasion.
