Center-Based K–12 School-Aged Program, ages 5-21

Flexible Scheduling- Monday through Friday: 8am – 4pm or 7:30am-3:30p.m. schedule

  • Salary: $57,2K-58,8K

About the Position

The Licensed Speech-Language Pathologist or Clinical Fellow of Speech-Language Pathology will provide speech and language therapy and evaluations to a caseload of students ranging in ages from 5-21 years old as part of the students’ Clinical Team. They will work in collaboration with occupational therapists, physical therapists, special education teachers, nursing, and positive behavior support specialists to provide high quality services to the students throughout their school day. This position will also take part in the development of the students’ Individualized Education Program (IEP). Clinical fellowship candidates considered.

Licensed Speech-Language Pathologist or Clinical Fellow of Speech-Language Pathology Responsibilities

  • Assess individual speech-language skills in school setting. Make outside referrals as necessary (i.e., audiologist, orthodontist, dysphagia evaluation, etc.). Submit evaluations according to requirements by due dates.
  • Plan for and implement individual and group therapy sessions for the students to meet individual mandates.
  • Keep accurate attendance that is in accordance with daily progress notes and follows Medicaid guidelines.
  • Develop written goals and objectives to be part of the overall Individual Education Plan (IEP).
  • Document progress daily with written reports, and record progress in monthly summaries, quarterly reports, and annual reports and submit by due dates and according to requirements.
  • Work with classroom teachers, support staff and parents to increase carryover of skills learned in speech therapy.
  • In-service staff as needed.
  • Strive to improve upon professional abilities by keeping informed of new materials, techniques, and theories. Attend continuing educational opportunities to maintain New York State licensure and American Speech-Language

Licensed Speech-Language Pathologist or Clinical Fellow of Speech-Language Pathology Qualifications

  • Masters of Arts or Science Degree in Speech Language Pathology.
  • New York State license to practice speech-language pathology or eligibility to begin New York State Supervised Experience in Speech-Language Pathology.
  • American Speech-Language-Hearing Association Certificate of Clinical Competence (ASHA CCCs) or eligibility to begin Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY).
  • New York State Teacher Certification for Speech and Hearing Handicapped (provisional or permanent) or for Students with Speech and Language Disabilities (initial or professional).
  • Ability to meet physical requirements of the position when performing the following: standing, walking, sitting, grasping, bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling and climbing.
