Position Summary:

The Pre-Billing Specialist will analyze, research, correct and/or modifying billing edits and data. Problem solve

by identifying root causes of system edits. Communicate errors, discrepancies and/or trends to Supervisor.

Obtain provider notes and logs for professional billing and create encounters. Verify insurance eligibility and

update demographic and/or insurance information as needed. Create and maintain excel spreadsheets.

Responsible for notifying appropriate parties of discrepancies and additions to reports. Reconcile reporting for

specialty services with follow up communication to appropriate parties. Acts as liaison between the Coding

Team with internal and external customers. Establish and maintain consistent communication with nursing

staff and medical providers. Capable of entering data quickly and accurately. Strong attention to detail. Ability

to think analytically. Must be able to multitask and work well in a team environment. Ability to prioritize work

and able to work with little or minimal supervision. Projects an image of professionalism in communication,

appearance and conduct. Participates in the continuous quality improvement process. Maintains a working

knowledge of departmental standard operating procedures. May perform other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications:

EDUCATION: High School Diploma or equivalent

EXPERIENCE: 1-2 years of electronic physician medical billing and insurance verification experience.

Computer skills including nowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.

Preferred Qualifcations:

EXPERIENCE: Working knowledge of insurance guidelines including HMO, PPO, Medicare, Medi-Cal and

Workers' Compensation. Familiar with CPT, HCPC and ICD-10 coding and Medical Terminology
