Role: Special Education Support Teacher

also have an opening for Kinder, Middle School and High School Special Education Teacher

Rate: $65/hr (1099 Independent Contractor)

Hours:Full time & Part time opportunities available

Location: Manhattan, NY - multiple locations (10024, 10030, 10037, 10029, 10003, 10010, 10128)

Grade Level(s): K - 12

Start Date: ASAP

Contract Period: 10 Months (Summer hours available)

Responsibilities:

• Assess students’ skills and determine their educational needs
• Adapt general lessons to meet students’ needs
• Provide students with the accommodations listed on their IEPs/IESPs
• Provide academic intervention to students on your caseload in a 1:1 setting
• Provide in classroom push in academic intervention as well classroom pull out intervention
• Complete quarterly progress reports throughout the school year to reflect students’ progress and goals
• Complete short session notes to help track progress and keep families updated
• Discuss students’ progress with parents, other teachers, counselors, and administrators

Required Skills:

• Must live in Brooklyn/Queens/Manhattan/Bronx or within a reasonable commuting distance.
• Must have a clean driving record.
• Must be an organized thinker.
• Must be able to work independently as well as with classroom teachers and parents.
• Will be accountable for ensuring teaching quality and the timely delivery of assigned tasks.
• Able to identify, prioritize and mitigate risks and issues.
• Maintains good communication with the Parent, School teacher, and Knowledge Road.

Qualifications:

• New York Students with Disabilities Teaching Certification (Current)
• Candidates MUST BE OUT from under NYC DOE payroll for at least 12 months to be considered
• At least 1 year exp. as Special Education Teacher
• Experience completing quarterly progress reports
