This position will be based out of the corporate headquarters in Concord Township, Ohio (about 30-40 minutes east of Cleveland, OH).

Summary:

The Sourcing Manager will manage sourcing and supply chain activities for paper conversion machines, components, and accessories for a publicly traded leader in the sustainable cushioning industry; perform make-buy assessments for items currently sourced domestically and overseas; assess supply chain opportunities and make comprehensive recommendations to business leadership based on detailed analysis; develop the methodology for identifying supply chain risk and apply this model to existing supply base; recommend and implement risk mitigation strategies; proactively identify and qualify new suppliers to support growth and new product introductions; cultivate a collaborative relationship with the supply base and implement both supplier scorecards and business reviews; identify and drive net material inflation initiatives to achieve cost savings targets; and help manage the business’ Capex program.

Responsibilities:

  • Proactively manage supply chain activities, including risk, for paper converting machines, components, and accessories.
  • Primarily focus on direct materials but also support indirect purchasing, as required.
  • Drive cost saving initiatives to meet Net Material Inflation (NMI) targets.
  • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with supply base.
  • Develop and apply supplier scorecard methodology, establishing a cadence for business reviews.
  • Purchase strategic Capex and define sourcing strategy for strategic equipment.
  • Manage company-owned tooling located at supplier locations: actively tracking use and remaining life expectancy, and budgeting Capex for replacement tooling, as necessary.
  • Liaise with Engineering and Project teams to support new product development and introductions. Where appropriate develop the procurement strategy for each project.
  • Collaboratively perform make/buy analysis to help guide sound insourcing/outsourcing decisions.
  • Collate specifications and technical and quality requirements to produce detailed RFQs.
  • Develop and implement standardized tendering documentation and evaluation templates.
  • Research and evaluate suppliers based on various criteria, including price, quality, service, support, availability, reliability, capabilities, capacities, reputation and history.
  • Manage the RFQ process to ensure relevant stakeholder, technical, and end-user reviews are incorporated, and recorded, in the review and decision-making process.
  • Evaluate responses in terms of Health, Safety, & Environment, Quality and Value.
  • Assist in identifying and qualifying new supply sources, ensuring appropriate due diligence.
  • Negotiate terms and conditions ensuring compliance with relevant International Laws and Trading practices, and INCOTERMS.
  • Coordinate contract milestones, drawings, documentation, and deliverables (e.g., first-article testing and acceptance events).
  • Develop risk mitigation strategies to manage: critical supplier performance, strategic safety stock levels, redundant suppliers and tooling, etc.
  • Evaluate and monitor contract performance following placement to ensure compliance with contractual obligations and to determine need for changes.

Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • 5+ years relevant experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • Prior experience performing make/buy decisions that shaped supply chain strategy and produced demonstrated customer service improvements.
  • Procurement experience with plant equipment, machinery, and capital expenditures exceeding $500K value.
  • Experience in: project purchasing, contract negotiation and execution, and risk management.

Preferred:

  • BA – supply chain / purchasing / operations / business.
  • MBA
  • Manufacturing experience with an international footprint.
  • SAP experience.
