JOB PURPOSE

The Bill of Materials Specialist is responsible for documenting and creating Bill of Materials (BOM’s) for our ERP system (Epicor) that informs the Manufacturing teams daily production and all components necessary to manufacture our products to ensure accurate pricing, inventory accuracy and product fulfillment. Expedites the flow of work and materials within or between departments of an establishment according to production schedule. Compiles and records production data for industrial establishment to prepare records and reports on volume of production, consumption of raw material, quality control, and other aspects of production.

Education Level:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering or Project management.

Job Experience:

  • 5-7 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in manufacturing bill of materials.
  • 2+ years of cost estimate or related experience.
  • Experience in the automotive industry or product design is a must.
  • Exceptional Excel skills and proficiency in MS Office.

  • Able to handle multiple tasks and must present exceptional prioritizing and organization skills.
  • Must be detail-orientated, self-motivated and able to work independently or team environment.
  • Good understanding of manufacturing systems (documentation, compliance, inventory control, production scheduling/controls, etc.).
  • Ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization and perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to carry out assignments in a timely, accurate manner and accomplishing tasks as required with little or no supervision.
  • Understanding of supply chain management of manufacturing parts.
  • Able to work on multiple tasks as a team member and/or ability to operate as an individual contributor.

Responsibilities:

  • Critical analysis of parts and processes to create and maintain an accurate Bill of Materials.
  • Oversee and improve upon existing BOM cost estimate framework, with rigorous attention to detail.
  • Coordinate with Engineering team to manage a preliminary Bill of Materials for new programs.
  • Track the preliminary Bill of Materials through the engineering and prototyping phase to maintain accuracy.
  • Document and assess cost estimate assumptions and risk parameters.
  • Evaluate and identify impact of program and sourcing changes on BOM.
  • Prepare detailed and summary level analyzes for management reporting.
  • Track and compare estimated versus actual costs and identify ways to improve accuracy and completeness.
  • Develop and maintain strong communication with program managers and staff.
  • Develop and maintain detailed documentation process.
  • Working with Engineering team on BOM template.
  • Integrate the Add/Delete parts list and work closely with the sourcing specialist.
  • Work on new BOMs configurations with ERP system, Epicor.
  • Communicating Bill of Materials information to the Materials and Purchasing Departments as it is captured.
  • Capture and document the individual components that comprise the Bill of Materials for each model.
  • Manage ERP Bill of Materials database and communicate configurator rules to Computer Services.
  • Maintain consistency and accuracy in describing parts and part numbers for production and documentation.
  • Auditing Bill of Materials when needed to ensure inventory accuracy.
  • Provide additional support and conduct special projects as determined by Management.
  • Liaison between materials and engineering departments.

Pay: $70,000.00 - $105,000.00 per year
