Position Overview: Under the direct supervision of the Foster Care and Adoptions Program Manager or Resource Family Supervisor, the Social Worker is responsible for provision of social services to the foster child, adoptive child, foster parents and natural family.

Responsibilities:

  • Develops individual needs and service plans with noted short and long term goals.
  • Maintains child casework, medical and home files on individual caseload; preparing required weekly, monthly, 30-days, quarterly, six-months, and annual reports per county contract guidelines.
  • Conducts weekly monitoring for adherence to licensing regulations for each resource home on his/her caseload. This includes driving to each home and physically surveying and supervising the care and treatment of each child in the home.
  • Inspects certified foster homes on a bi-monthly basis to evaluate the maintenance of grounds according to California state licensure regulations and Victor Treatment Center’s Agency policy.
  • Participates in assessment team meetings in order to discuss individual cases, develop treatment goals or plan for eventual family reunification (where appropriate). Attends TDM (Treatment Decision Making) Meeting as needed.
  • Provides monthly in-home trainings for foster parent(s) and participates in monthly on-site support group training for foster parents. Participation in training sessions as needed for foster parents prior to certification.
  • Monitors the ongoing training requirements and needed documents of the foster parents in order to be annually certified. Preparation of initial documents prior to recertification and submission to supervisor one month prior to recertification date.

Essential Requirements:

  • Must possess a Master’s degree from an accredited or state approved graduate school in the behavioral sciences, unless an exception is obtained by Community Care Licensing due to related experience.
  • Must be available during assigned Duty Worker Month via cell phone on a 24 hour basis for emergencies.
  • Must possess a valid California driver’s license, personal automobile insurance, and driving record that meets the standards outlined in the Agency's Personnel Policy; Motor Vehicle Operating Standards.
  • Must be physically and mentally fit to work with potentially violent clients in accordance with the Agency’s Physical Fitness Standards and Examinations policy and must be willing to complete a health screening physical examination that includes a drug screening test and back screen; must have the unrestricted capacity to employ physical restraint techniques in a professionally safe manner
  • Must be bilingual in English and Spanish
