Position Summary: The Site Superintendent is accountable for achieving construction excellence for Patry Group, managing, and coordinating all onsite construction activities and supervising all construction personnel/trades, as required, to successfully complete the project within scope, on schedule, and within budget. This includes ensuring that the project fulfills all design and safety specifications, maintaining the highest quality of work, ensuring all trade and field personnel are effectively delivering in line with contractual agreements, while leading, administrating, and adhering to health and safety practices and protocols for all on-site activities.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and manage all on-site construction, including trades, subcontractors, and workers, ensuring compliance with building code, safety regulations and project documents
  • Responsible for working with Owner and establishing the change control process, managing the change control process, and executing project change requests. Responsible for communicating the impact a give change to the Owner from a schedule and budget perspective
  • Responsible for coordinating and leading weekly meetings with project developer (Owner) including developing meeting agendas, sharing related documents at least 24 hrs. in advance, and discussing outstanding contract items
  • Responsible for proactively identifying and raising issues and risks to the developer and developing mitigation recommendations (solutions for fixing the issue/risk)
  • Responsible for managing all aspects of health and safety, including conducting daily and monthly safety walk-abouts, correcting safety issues, and completing accident reports in a timely manner
  • Conduct all work in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) laws and regulations
  • Read and interpret drawings and documents and spearhead the implementation on site. Identify discrepancies and errors and work with the Project Manager to resolve issues
  • Responsible for managing effective relationships with contract/trades personnel including external engineers and consultants and developing and negotiating contractor/trades requirements and specification packages
  • Adhere to construction schedule and budget
  • Manage logistics, equipment, and materials
  • Coordinate inspectors, engineers, and testing
  • Provide input and participate in construction and pre-construction meetings
  • Maintain high quality control standards and participate in customer service meeting, walkthroughs, and deficiency list resolution
  • Complete reports and administrative work (time sheets, safety documentation, logs, etc.)
  • On-call availability for emergencies

Job Specifications:

  • Minimum of 7-10 years work experience as a site superintendent on residential new building construction and site development.
  • College or University degree in a construction related field an asset
  • Certificate in project management an asset
  • Capability of managing large projects at one time (requires flexibility to work weekends as required).
  • Read and understand architectural, engineering, construction and shop drawings and have a thorough understanding of the engineering and architectural design process.
  • Excellent project administration and management skills.
  • Strong computer literacy including use of email software, Microsoft Office products and project management software.
  • Experience in wood frame construction
  • Highly articulate and well-presented leader, who is comfortable dealing with all levels of industry professionals and stakeholders, such as municipal officials, consultants, trades, suppliers, peers, senior leadership etc.
  • Valid class G driver’s license, and clean drivers abstract (travelling to sites, meetings, etc.)

Working Conditions:

Physical Conditions – Prolonged sitting and use of computer appliances in an office environment. Construction site visits.

Psychological Conditions – Completing deadlines, leadership responsibilities.

Incumbent must comply with all pertinent legislation and associated regulations. This may include, but is not limited to: PIPEDA, Occupational Health & Safety Act, WSIB, Employment Standards Act.
