Job Summary:

Directs and coordinates activities related to production and delivery of concrete products, including safety, compliance, quality control, budgeting/forecasting, labor & equipment utilization, capital planning, inventory management, and coordination of preventative maintenance activities.


Position is based out of Sterling, CO, although a qualified candidate may reside anywhere within the assigned market area that supports the ability to be effective in the role. The successful candidate will oversee current operations of six ready-mix plants throughout eastern Colorado and western Nebraska, with a focus on continued business development and sales growth within the market.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Embrace the Company’s safety culture, actively support all safety initiatives, and adhere to defined accountabilities implemented by the Safety Steering and Continuous Improvement teams
  • Support, promote, and practice the Company core values, vision, and mission; follow code of ethics, workplace conduct, safety, and other established policies
  • Develop operational strategy for assigned market area; identify operational deficiencies and areas of opportunity
  • Ensure optimized utilization of fixed and mobile plant equipment and personnel
  • Promote customer satisfaction through excellence in quality, production, and product delivery methods
  • Engage with contractors, government agencies, engineering firms, and municipalities to drive sales and market growth
  • Consult and collaborate with clients, vendors, and internal estimating/project management and operations staff to formulate estimates and resolve issues; provide quotes and monitor bid processes for internal and external sales
  • Work with internal teams team to analyze capital needs and prepare appropriate requests for capital
  • Ensure that key operational data are reviewed and analyzed regularly; track progress against action plans and KPI targets; investigate variances and ensure corrective actions are established and managed
  • Maintain and promote a consistent professional best-in-class image in all operations, including general site housekeeping/storage, condition of equipment, signage, and buildings
  • May participate in industry associations; community events, etc., to promote sales and organizational initiatives

Education:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Construction Management, Engineering, or similar discipline preferred
  • Valid drivers’ license and ability to maintain a clean motor vehicle record required

Skills:

  • 7 or more years of progressive experience working in concrete production, materials manufacturing and/or related operational role; experience working in a heavy civil construction environment preferred
  • 5+ years of experience supervising others with ability to effectively lead and motivate teams
  • Knowledge of applicable rules and regulations governed by federal, state, and local regulatory agencies, including but not limited to OSHA/MSHA, DEQ, and DOT
  • Solid financial and business acumen
  • Self-directed, results-oriented, and highly motivated, requiring minimal direct guidance
  • Ability to effectively manage time and multiple priorities efficiently, while working under pressure of deadlines
  • Ability to problem-solve effectively while encouraging collaboration, candid conversation, and trust
  • Proficiency in use of computers and mobile devices, including MS Office 365, planning, accounting, and production system software, and related applications

Physical Requirements:

  • Wear and maintain personal protective equipment (PPE), as required by company safety guidelines
  • Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with or without assistance
  • Regularly required to use hands to feel, handle and manipulate objects
  • Regularly required to communicate (talk and hear)
  • Regularly required to stand/work on feet for long periods, and walk across uneven terrain
  • Regularly required to sit for long periods at a desk using a computer
  • Frequent work in close proximity to heavy equipment and machinery, exposure to loud noise
  • Work performed in an office environment and in the field; frequent exposure to typical industrial/construction site conditions, including work around heavy machinery, dust and loud noise, and all weather conditions
  • Travel, including overnight stays away from home may be required

Compensation and Benefits:

Compensation*: $100,000-$120,000 DOE


  • Estimated target starting compensation; actual compensation to be determined based on assessment of an individual’s qualifications, education, and experience relevant to the role.


Benefits: All full-time salary employees are eligible to participate in Simon benefits as defined in plan documents. Other Compensation: Position may be eligible for consideration of annual bonus compensation; position eligible for assigned company vehicle, computer, fuel card, and phone for business use.
